Grothues isn’t a good choice for Vakifbank. Her attacking is very weak now. Gabi+Robinson/C. Bosetti would work.
We could probably see C. Bosetti more likely than Grothues or Gabi because Bosettis father is the coach of VakifBanks youth team. Her father could have an impact on that decision.

Having 3 defensive OHs don't make any sense. Vakıfbank always had one big hitter in their starting-6. I don't think Zhu will leave anyway but if she does, Vakıfbank will go for another big hitter. Alternatively they can gamble on Ebrar as OH depending on what she will show this summer
Lang ping would want Zhu to not be exhausted before Olympics so it makes sense that Zhu would leave Vakif and go back to Henan or another team in China.
I also agree that 3 defensive OH is very unlikely in vakif. If Ebrar becomes an OH, kelsey as the 2nd oh is enough for the team. Unless Ebrar messes up then they need an offensive replacement. Haak, Robinson, Rasic if she stays, plus one foreigner.

I don't think it's fully pro, far from it actually, signing a few foreign athletes doesn't make it pro. Local players still can't go anywhere they want, I mean, Zhu Ting actually needs to hand in some of her salary to her old club. I also heard that internationals often train separately. And it's always those same clubs that are trying to sign foreigners, the rest of them are all locals. As for competitiveness, it's really not impressive, I know I would choose to watch Italian and Turkish league without a doubt.

I'm beginning to think that the world class player AGIL were trying for was Sloetjes who also got offers from Chinese clubs that are willing to pay her more money.
