2019 / 2020 Transfer Rumors & Discussion (Female)

  • It is surprising to me that Caterina Bosetti rejects Vakifbank again and again while her parents are working for Vakifbank. She either hated her time in Turkey while playing at GS or she does not like Guidetti lol :D

She said in an interview that she enjoyed her experiences abroad ( in Turkey and Brazil). Maybe she prefers to stay in Italy in the season before the Olympics, but this is just my speculation

  • Nothing surprising about Bosetti rejecting Vakıf, I expected this and told here weeks ago...

Bosetti played in Brazil and Turkey at a fairly young age, which means she's very independent...

And living close to their family is the last thing on the minds of those kind of people...

  • I think any team would be helped by Gabi. I mean what better options are there for an OH who has brilliant passing/defence and can also score some points as well?

I guess I think this current generation of players is just weaker. I miss the classic all-around OHs, such as Gozde, Sokolova, Jaqueline, Logan Tom, also Larson and Piccinini at their prime... :)

It's true that type of OH seems to be rare these days sadly.

  • Gabi is a good receiver, but saying that she is brilliant... well, that's just too much. Kelsey is a better receiver than Gabi, although I agree that Gabi is better overall.

Well Gabi is a better attacker, Kelsey is a better receiver, better defender, better server. I'm not sure how good of a blocker Gabi is, but Kelsey puts up a pretty solid block. So taking this into account...

I think Gabi is better than Kelsey in all offensive skills. But that doesn't mean she is a bad defender and receiver. To be honest I guess both of them have the same quality in defense, but Kelsey's advantage is on reception, which is a skill that Gabi is not 100% reliable yet. Since they're close in most skills, and Gabi is way better attacker, that's why I prefer Gabi than Kelsey.

  • kelsey is a better receiver because she spent an entire summer training as a libero. If Zhu is still there, then Kelsey will be useful to cover Zhu and let Zhu release her kraken. But if Zhu is not gonna play with them anymore next season, they need to have a good attacking OH duo. Gabi is one of those rare OH who is good at both. She might not be Jaque/Sokolova/Logan/Paula level, but she keeps the job done.

  • are Asian players not of any considerations? lol... if just talking about Kelsey, Gabi, bosetti etc. type of player wise, I think a few Asian players can probably do similar....just asking...

Yes possibly. Personally my knowledge of Asian players isn't that good so I don't know who could do that job so well and of course not many Asian players come to play in Europe at all so it may not be easy to transfer them.

who you got in mind? Ajcharaporn is one of the best OH from south east Asia who can play both OH and Opp but her receiving can be a liability. the rising star from Thailand Chatchu-on Moksiri is still too green to play abroad. and I think Chinese players will choose to stay at their home ground around the Olympic year.

I don't think they are good options to cover an offensive OH since they are used to play in a system. For example, Saori was a great OH but she had been very disappointing as a defensive OH in both Vakıfbank and GS since she is not used to cover someone else in the reception line. To me, the best nation who is good at covering an offensive OH is Serbians. Molnar, Vesoviç, Blagojeviç, Maleseviç, Busa etc they all did a decent job to cover an offensive OH, sometimes receiving only with a libero. In this regard, if Vakıfbank will keep Zhu and will rely on a defensive OH, they should keep Robinson instead of Gabi. As someone mentioned earlier, Gabi is a great defender but her reception is not as good to cover her lack of attacking skills. Gabi can be useful with another balanced OH and play a fast system, otherwise she wouldn't be more useful than Robinson with the current system of Vakıfbank

Kulan had an amazing season last year. Pity that none of the Turkish teams signed with her. She is one of these underrated players. I don't any other OH as tall as her and can still receive decent. Also Rahimova is playing pretty good so far although THY plays with a weird system due to Ruseva's pregnancy. I hope Rahimova will stay in the league. Her serves are pleasure to watch!

Zhu is rumored to leave, same goes for Rasic but still their main problem is setter.

Same goes to Eczacibasi, both outplayed by Italian teams because setter weren’t on high level.

And We can agree about Fener and Gala, they need better setters.

I don't think Eczacıbaşı lost because of their setter. They lost because of Boskoviç's injury and Vakıfbank lost because of Egonu not that Carlini played amazing.

  • According to Pasini,Cuneo is interested in Carlotta Cambi. Honestly I would like to see her in a top team, like Monza

Do you really think she played like she deserved to play in a top team?

agreed about the youngster, though I think Ajcharaporn's reception is probably not any worse than Gabi is. She has gotten better these past couple of years. The ones I had in mind is more Wilavan and Risa Shinnabe. Both are good receivers and smart hitters when they are up at the net. But, serdar is probably right as well and they probably won't perform as well in a different surrounding.

  • Italy has/had amazing receivers, I mean,Piccinini,Del Core,Bosetti sisters,Marcon, Di Iulio... all them can cover most of the court with the libero. Marcon has been the best receiver in Europe for years problably

I agree with you on Marcon. She could easily play as libero in a top team. To me, Piccinini, Del Core and Bosetti sisters are more all-around players. Italy almost always played with a balanced OH duo. I don't remember when was the last time they played 2 receiver system or a defensive&offensive OH duo.:teach:
