Japan relied too much on the OH duo. In their VNL victory against China Hayashi was their best player but she wasn’t utilized enough in this match. Too many sets to the left and the sets were so predictable. I don’t understand why Momii wasn’t tried at all when Seki’s sets were so boring and well read by China.

They through Momii in for a couple of points in the 2nd set when the lead was so big, but didn't make a difference.

Inoue's numbers were ok, but Japan uses the outsides more than every other team. Yamada actually forced yuan to hold the middle to allow Inoue to be open.

Fabulous team effort from the Chinese team! Can’t speak highly enough of the libero WMJ who has changed the dynamics of the team! (Compared to the liberos at VNL). Her high percentage of en pointe service reception have allowed Diao to vary and distribute the sets to various spiking positions hence our spikers beating the blocks achieving higher success rates.
Her defence is also so much better than WWY!! LYY is by far our best OH.

Throwing Momii in at that “garbage time” wouldn’t make any change to the game.
