2022 FIVB Women's World Championships - Netherlands and Poland

  • Ok we lose but I am proud of Polish girls. It was really gooood match so far:super:

  • good game really with a lot of energy , congrats to Turkish girls

  • But when it's clearly visible that there was block touch, it should be called.

That's the problem, referees surely aren't allowed to change their decision based on a TV replay because that's not an independent source/system like challenge system. But yes, it was a very unlucky moment for everyone involved. I'm sure the referee himself also wasn't happy about it.

  • I'm pleased with the Turkish girls performance overall, it was their best match. The girls looked fired up and athletic and every single player contributed a lot. Saliha was flying at some point for serve reception and Hande was receiving and killing some crazy spikes. Just too many serve errors.

Poland did great as well, got unlucky a bit with that point in the end, which would make the difference 1 iirc so not as big and they had some momentum there. But also a breaking point for them I think. Stysiak and Rozanski were great.

  • Right now here is the look for Pool E (A&D) and Pool F (B&C) standing to begin the second round, (UPDATED AFTER POL-TURN)

    Pool E

ITA 4-0, 12 PTS (can get to 5-0, 15 PTS), 12-1 SETS (can get to 15-1)

    CHN 4-1, 12, 13-3

    BRA 4-1, 12, 13-5

    NED 3-1, 9 (can get to 4-1, 12 PTS), 10-4 (can get to 13-4)

    BEL 3-1, 9 (can get to 4-1, 12 PTS), 10-4 (can get to 13-4)

    JPN 3-1, 9 (can get to 4-1, 12 PTS), 9-4 (can get to 12-4)

    PUR 2-3, 6, 7-10

    ARG 2-2, 5, (can get to 3-2, 8 PTS), 6-9 (can get to 9-9)

Netherlands really needs to beat Italy because they will probably lose to China, Brazil and possibly Japan.

Belgium with the win against Cameroon will put them at 4-1 and just ahead of Japan on sets ratio if Japan also sweeps against Argentina. Belgium probably needs 2-3 wins to advance, I don't know if they'll get them.

Italy with a win against Netherlands would be perfect and only need 2 wins to go through as basically they'll have the sets ratio tiebreaker against the teams below them.

    Pool F

    SRB 5-0, 14 PTS, 15-2 SETS

    USA 4-1, 12, 12-4

    TUR 4-1, 11, 14-7

    THA 4-1, 10, 12-7

    DOM 3-2, 12, 13-7

    POL 3-2, 10, 12-7

    CAN 3-2, 8, 9-9

    GER 2-3, 7, 8-10

Serbia with two wins would put them through to the quarterfinals. USA is going to have a huge sets ratio tiebreaker advantage over the Pool B teams. USA would probably beat at least 3 of the teams from Pool B, which would put them into the quarter finals. i feel if you get to 6 wins, you will probably will advance.

  • That's the problem, referees surely aren't allowed to change their decision based on a TV replay because that's not an independent source/system like challenge system. But yes, it was a very unlucky moment for everyone involved. I'm sure the referee himself also wasn't happy about it.

and he couldn´t take another challenge on himself?

  • and he couldn´t take another challenge on himself?

Referees can take their own challenge, but it would need to be at a point when neither team has any challenges left. Not saying you can't do it earlier, but if a team has blown their challenges, the referee is going to be very specific when their call their own challenge.

  • and he couldn´t take another challenge on himself?

Thanks to the TV replay he already knew the result, so that wouldn't have been really fair either. Mistakes happen, referees are only human and eyes have no slowmotion like cameras, but of course it's very frustrating for the team that should have won the point and didn't.

  • Congratulations for Turkey. They are top team. And I am very happy that Polish girls wasnt today team to rady beat

  • Let's see if this chaos was because we had 4 great teams in pool b or it was just a war between 4 mediocre teams...

    :rolll:

After those matches our teams leveled up even if they were mediocre if you ask me. Just look at the first matches in this group and the last ones, insane level upgrade lol

  • It was a tie break if he wasn't sure he should have taken a challenge. 5 wrong decisions in such a short set is a scandal. Even more so in favour of one team.

Double sub, comical... Unfortunately we lost a match we should have won. Turkey is not as strong as before.

  • Germany is such a cool team, such great history.. having to deal with Heynen

Turkish league next season has the mvp coaches in ferhat and heynen of the tournament eh? :gone:
