2022 FIVB Women's World Championships - Netherlands and Poland

  • Not only that She floped with her performance, She was even benched.

What a difference in just one season.

She dealt with an injury. Honestly whenever she was on court she seemed fine or even impressive to me despite this, the least of the teams problems.

Poulter was bad but apparently she also dealt with an injury. Washington was just horrible.

Only Ogbogu and Kelsey were great, esp. later on. But overall it was a lacking team effort, it wasn't clicking altogether imo.

  • The WCH is over.....Well done Serbia ! 🏆

Some members of the Thai team, who returned home a week ago are leaving again to join their clubs overseas. On Saturday Thanacha departed for Japan to join her new club Okayama Seagulls. Previously she played for PFU Bluecats. Three others are expected to join her in Japan, Thatdao (JT Marvelous), Hattaya (Toyota Auto Body Queensies) and Pimpichaya (Kurobe AquaFairies).

Ajcharaporn and Chachu-On also left for Turkey yesterday to continue playing for Sariyer Belediyesi Spor Kulubu. Setter Pornpun is expected to remain in Indonesia, playing for Jakarta Mandiri Popsivo Polwan. Good Luck, Girls !

  • Brazil didn’t go down without a fight those first 2 sets! They were locked in defensively! They are gonna get better and what an accomplishment to make it to the finals for such a young team that people doubted. Myself included. :)

A team with Carol gattaz, carol da Silva, macris, pri daroit wouldnt be called as a Young team, even Gabi doesn't count as a young player anymore.

  • Can Sariyer bring Pornpun next season? 😂

Yes that would be great! I'm curious how her setting style would work with Turkish players or other internationals

That's true, wanted to say the same. But still they included a significant number of really young players, especially compare to their previous tradition. Kisy, Tainara, two young MB, liberos + Ana C. and Bergman. It is good start of gen. change. I like that gradual introduction of new players.

  • Fun news, 23 yo. Kenyan Veronica Adhiambo after her great perf. in Wch got signed! She will play in Mersin, Turkiye next year in the 1st div. for Tarsus Bld. :box: Hope to see her in MCSL next year, fingers crossed.

I feel good to be making my first move abroad. This is a dream come true because I’ve always wanted to play professional volleyball. Finally, my hard work and sacrifice have paid off. I know the Turkish league is one of the best in the world but I am ready to do my best,” she told the Daily Nation.

Maybe it's already shared in the transfer news thread but I thought it'd be fun to share it here as well for everyone. Their opposite player Sharon Chepchumba also got signed and will play in Greece afaik for Aris :drink:

  • Other than GS is there any other team that like to play super fast?

I think in general most teams are aiming to play fast volleyball nowadays but there is no team without a setter so I don't think it is happening this year unless there'll be an injury in one of the big 4/5teams

yeah and don't forget Diana MB also 22, and for sure Helena Wenk (17) and Aline Segato (17) will be included in NT.

  • Sorry guys, but i am not ready to let it go yet. I was impressed with our performance this year so i needed to make some research.

Its indeed golden era of Serbia.

Facts about our historic performance in last World Championship.

Its not just back to back winners and Boskovic back to back MVP.

12 matches 12 win, losing only 5 sets.

2nd time in history(counting WCH 2002 and later, when sets go to 25 points) someone won without losing a match. 1st was Russia 2010 but they played only 9 matches(3 less than Serbia this year) and lost 7 sets.

1st and only time in history(again when sets go to 25) someone won a final match 3-0. Last time 3-0 was 1998, but rules was different back than as i said, sets to 15.

I have to admit it too. Prolonged excitement still ongoing for me. The girls have fed me up so much that I'm not ready for a messy start of the club season. I will avoid it until further notice.

    :rose:

  • truly awesome and so impressive. Thanks for the tag. It was super fun to talk with you guys and cheer on the girls while they did it! :)

  • Also can I add that every single girl on the team played an important part ? Save maybe Jegdic who was still good when she got to play. Even Bjelica and Mirkovic had great moments in the double sub. This was NOT just Tijana dragging a bunch of bad players to a gold medal like some people on here like to suggest and create narratives about.

    :rose:

Same. I feel so content and bone-deep happy these last 10 days later that I go through even physically gruelling days feeling feather-weight and like I'm on cloud nine.:box:

Also, now that someone else resurrected the thread, I would like to point out something I wanted to say at the time, but forgot. This thread has approximately 6 times as many posts as the male WCH one. That accurately reflects IMO to what extent female volleyball is more popular (definitely online, if not in real world).

  • For me, one of the joys of following this thread, is reading all the interesting comments and seeing the video clips, photos etc. Some were funny, others inspiring and heart warming, like the above post on Coach Ze Roberto and Egonu....I don’t just see a coach and a player, I see a loving father and daughter or a caring uncle and a niece.

Everyone, thank you for making this world championship a memorable one !
