Korean NT 2019

  • I'm honestly curious but Team Korea fans, do you think KYK or ZT is better? Obviously, KYK's prime times are slowly waning away and ZT is younger but if they were the same age, how'd you rate those guys against each other?

I think KYK is better because she was a perfect receiver, attacker, server that time. She got so many praises from coaches all over the world. She already had 3 times of knee surgery before 2008 because she was so overworked in her club and NT. She has made amazing things with her teammates considering it was not that good compared to Zhu. No other players would made that result without kim. She got so many 3 blocks, and was a serve target. Also no other players would have made it with both attacking every ball and defensing every ball.

  • And the roster is out for Korean NT.

OH Kim yeonkoung, Lee jaeyeong, Kang sowhi, Pyo seungju

    Opp Kim heejin, Park jeongah

MB Yang hyojin, Kim suji, Han songyi, Lee juah

    S Lee dayeong, Yeum hyesun

    Li Oh jiyoung, Kim haeran

These players will rest 1 game of v league that is near the break (which will be teams 15th game) to give them time to prepare OQ.

Well, I there are 1 clear thing I can't understand.

Why Lee juah is in?? Umm... I think Lavarini just prefers her. She makes no kill blocks and her attack rate is not that high either. Taking into consideration that this tournament exist for just one match: korea vs thailand, I think it would be a good option to take Jung jiyun. I guess thailand player's won't defend her powerful spikes.

Moreover, I thought Moon jungwon would go to NT in the absence of Lee soyoung. She could be used in the back row as a receiver when Lee JY or Kim YK's reception is not perfect. Furthermore her service is wonderful so she can be used as an one point server.

Interesting thing is that Han songyi is back to NT with MB! She performs well at v-league and I thought she might be in the NT, but I didn't think it really came to happen. She desperately want to go to olympics because she didn't got medals from london 2012. Hope she and korean NT really makes it this time.

    Guess starting 7 will be:

OH Kim yeonkoung , Lee jaeyoung

    Opp Kim heejin

    MB Kim suji, Yang hyojin

    S Lee dayeong

    Li Oh jiyoung

And lavarini will surely use double sub:

opp park jungah and s yeum hyesun.

  • I prefer Park Eunjin more than Lee Juah too. She's faster and better in blocking than Lee Juah

Isn't Moon Jungwon part of Lavarini's VNL team? And she never get called again after that. So I guess her performance wasn't good enough for him

I wish Lavarini will give another chance for setter Ahn Hyejin to join the team again

Yeum Hyesun's setting sometimes kinda unstable and made it harder for spikers to do their job properly.

I only know Moon Jungwon was injured again a few months ago.

My favourite roster of Chinese (in 2022)
    male NT:
    S - Yu Yao-chen, Chen Lei-yang
OP - Jiang Chuan, Dai Qing-yao
    OH - Zhang Jing-yin, Yu Yuan-tai, Liu Li-bin, Fu Hou-wen
    MB - Zhang Zhe-jia, Peng Shi-kun, Li Yong-zhen, Jiang Zhen-yang
    L - Yang Yi-ming, Yang Tian-yuan

    female NT:
    S - Yao Di, Diao Lin-yu
    OP - Gong Xiang-yu, Sun Xiao-xuan
    OH - Li Ying-ying, Wang Yi-fan, Wu Meng-jie, Zhuang Yu-shan
MB - Yuan Xin-yue, Wang Yuan-yuan, Zheng Yi-xin, Liu Yu
    L - Ni Fei-fan, Xu Jia-nan

  • One thing that’s quite weird in this lineup is that it’s overloaded with wing spikers but there’s no DS/SS. No offense to Seung Ju but I’d rather have Moon Jung Won over her.

  • Lavarini thinks it is okay with only offensive OHs because only one match is actually valid.

However as only one match is valid, the reception could be very unstable that day, and I think defensive OH is needed for emergeny situations.

And 4 MB may not be needed because it is not that a long competition. Moon jungwon's serve and reception can be a really good option. (Moon's injury is quite default. Her knee is not good everytime.)

I understand that lavarini chose Pyo seungju because she showed so good performance playing as a substitute player, but can't agree on Lee juah.

Whatever, Lavarini is a really good coach, and I believe his decision would be right.

  • I agree about Lee Ju-Ah... so far her performances are not good in the league... to point she substituted in the middle of a match and didn't play again....

Jung JH and Park EJ have performed better so far among the young MBs..

I mentioned before that I find Pyo SJ is just so-so... though maybe I underrated her...

Maybe Moon JW or Ha Hye Jin should be called too....

Anyway, I hope they play well and win... Thailand seems in a mess looking their performance at SEA Games....

  • Oh how's thailand in SEA games? I haven't watch that.

I agree tha Pyo is not that a good option, but as a joker she made something wonderful many times, so I think Lavarini is beleiving in that.

  • THA hasn't lost any sets or matches, but yes they have been very erratic at unnecessary moments.

I think when it comes to the more important matches, they'll pick up the slack.

I dont know which team(KOR or THA) is better. Both are petty even to me and can have their moments of greatness and faults at any given time or day. Hoping for the best performing team to get the ticket next month.....but imagine Kazakhstan pulled an upset on both for win. Lol

  • I think THA is experimenting combination of players and formations in the SEA games, since they can afford to against teams that on paper lower in world ranking.....

Korea has good track record from their previous meets in tournaments.. The last meet in AVC championship Korea win 3-1....

THA always had a hard time facing KOR blocking play.....

  • when I said they haven't lost any sets or matches, it was referring to the SEA GAMES only...hehehe sorry for any confusion on that part.

But yes, agreed KOR's blocking will be one of the things THA has to overcome.

And KOR has improved under their new coach....looking forward to an intense match next month.

  • Moon Jung-Won would have been a good addition to the squad. She could help the team in so many ways. As a pinch server, receiving specialist, back-up back-up OP, and maybe even as a back-up back-up libero.

I myself would have prefer to see Park Eun-Jin in the team ahead of Lee Ju-Ah too but I think Eun-Jin omission from the NT could be due to the fact that are three other KGC players in the NT.

Player MP SP Points Spike Serve Block
    Lee Ju-Ah 12 45 79 63/157 (40.13%) 5 (0.11) 11 (0.24)
    Park Eun-Jin 12 53 92 55/144 (38.19%) 14 (0.26) 23 (0.43)
    Jeong Ji-Yun 12 45 106 88/204 (43.14%) 4 (0.09) 14 (0.31)

I'm totally agree with you. I think good option in NT might be Park EJ>Jung JY>Lee JA.

Somebody can say Park Eunjin is not good in team these days, Lee juah is much worse than that. She is not on the starting list these days, and her team got better as she is not running.

If pyo seungju is needed for substitute option, it might be a better option to have only 3 MB and pick Moon jungwon for defense and service option. She even scored service ace 5 times in a row in Korea thailand all star games in 2019.

  • I agreed, I think 3 MB are enough. Beside you can always move Kim Hee-Jin to the MB position if something were to happen.

That's good of the option. She's already playing as MB in league. There may be no emergency situations but kim hee jin is a multi position player so it can be an option. However I think lavarini will keep her using as Opp.
