Japan NT 2019 Women

  • Yeah, Japan sent an U-19 NT to Cornacchia World Cup held in Pordenone, Italy from April 19 (Fri) - April 22 (Mon). From tournament info: https://www.cornacchiaworldcup.com/en/program-2019/ only the final will be stream on the FB page.

I am having such a blast now that I can navigate the JVA site :P

Can you tell me your opinion of the proper translation of 女子アジア東部地区選手権 and/or anything about it? (I see they send a University Squad--and now I want to know who chooses that squad, and all the U-Squads, for that matter)

Is it better translated as Women's Asian Eastern District Championships or Women's East Asian Regional Championships?

I don't know anything about the teams and whatever but there are some pretty odd scores going on so far:

    Japan - Volley Mareno 2-0 (27-25/25-12)

    Farum Holte - Japan 0-2 (9-25/10-25)

    Japan - Domovip Porcia 2-0 (25-8/25-10)

Hmm, when I looked at it, I thought Farum Holte had beaten Japan, but I just copied it and split. I had to give Google some cookies to see it and I hate doing that. It's a shared Spreadsheet in Google Docs. Ugh.

I am glad that you enjoy roaming around on the JVA (it is so much better than the KVA site).

:rolll: You think too highly of me, in no way am I a translation expert. Like you, I am someone who rely on translation websites.

Wiki has got it translated as Asian Eastern Zonal Women's Volleyball Championship, while the AVC Asianvolleyball.net site has got it translated as AVC Eastern Zone Women’s Volleyball Championship (I guess this is the official name). https://asianvolleyball.net/ol…-volleyball-championship/

Personally, I would just translate 女子アジア東部地区選手権 as East Asian Women's Championship. The addition of District/Regional/Zone/Zonal just make it too much of a mouth full to say.

I think this competition is a mixture of various club's junior teams and junior NT.

A big THANK YOU to Jeniawithlove :rose: as I now know how to look up the stats from some of the older AVC competitions thanks to the wiki link you provided.

  • "Zonal" is a weird word :)

Where do you find stats from the Zonal Wiki Page?

    Great sleuthing!

It's hideous the way these web sites do that. The AVC site has always been hideous, though. I guess we should be grateful that they didn't actually delete everything. I've expressed, on many occasions in this forum, my extreme displeasure with AVC for the way they 'upgraded' their website and killed the links to everything I had bookmarked. The V.League did the same thing with their "upgrade". I believe the V.League have criminally deleted everything, though. I considered contacting a lawyer to see if I could sue them for the pain and suffering it caused ;)

Think of all the busted Wikipedia links. F-word!

I'm kind of dumb when it comes to navigating sites. That's why I bookmark everything once I find it

  • Can anyone find the old FIVB Rankings? Oh, wait I did that already.

The pictograph for Zone or Zonal, can also be read as region/regional. What the AVC uses, I would use that term.

I noticed she didn't start the first match and set 1 went to 27-25. After she started, the most points scored against them the next couple matches was 12 :super:

No love for Rino Murooka :( She should have at least gotten an award for Best pint-sized Strut :super:

  • It's a mystery why Yuki Nishikawa wasn't selected for the NT, especially instead of Mayu Ishikawa whose ass she would have kicked in Spring Valley 2019 if Higashi Kyushu Ryukoku hadn't kicked it for her.

Ishikawa has brand name, I guess. So there's that. Good for butts in the seats. But while immersing my self in this Haruko Business Yuki Nishikawa has delighted me with her Saori-like Den-Mother Book-Nerdy Polite I-Know-What-I'm-Doing-Here niceness. And she's a fuck-pot taller than Ishikawa.

Japan NT needs someone like her. She's got the skills and resumé entries to back it all up, too.

btw - I need a short version of Higashi Kyushu Ryukoku. It's too much to type. What does it mean anyway? Kyushu is the island, I guess Higashi means 'east', and Ryukoku means something like institution of learning, I think. Is there an accepted short version out there that people bandy about?

  • I think we're going see Nanami Seki getting playing time this summer.

I'm still trying to track down where some of these kids come from. Pro Tip: If you are adverse to porn don't search for images of Japanese volleyball players in 日本人.

Anyway, I came across this article blurb from Coach Nakada (Google Translated):

    Quote

Director Kumi Nakata (53), who will lead the volleyball women's Japan team, hoped for a positive setter for the second year of working people on the 24th.

On the 24th, I met in Tokyo and listed 19-year-old Seki Nana (Toray) as a notable player. He kept his regular position in the v-league, and told Seki, who contributed to the team's runner-up, saying, “I want to see how much it goes world-class”.

Seki of strong heart that does not get nervous among many seniors decided "I wanted to do the top level looking at the same team Mr. Kurogo. I decided to play for a long time in all Japan without being satisfied with myself Told.
