  • As for Germany, there have been very few official news (as usual...), just that Alexander Waibl will be coaching the team and it's considered a B-NT with mostly U23 players that in the long run shall play in the main NT. From various press articles some names could be found out, for example Denise Imoudu is there as setter and as one of the older players. Somewhere I read that 15 players are training from 19-29 June and then Waibl will choose 12, another source says 16 players are training. Here is my guess (!) about players that are probably training, some of them are confirmed:

    S: Denise Imoudu, Corinna Glaab

    OPP: Luisa Keller, Emilia Weske

OH: Lina Alsmeier, Emma Cyris, Vanessa Agbortabi

MB: Camilla Weitzel, Natalie Wilczek, Lea Ambrosius, Josepha Bock

L: Elisa Lohmann, Linda Bock (both can also play as OH)

  • Still no complete official roster for Germany, but via their clubs confirmed to participate are Denise Imoudu, Emilia Weske, Natalie Wilczek, Lina Alsmeier, Luisa Keller, Liza Kastrup, Linda Bock and Camilla Weitzel. Emma Cyris isn't in the final roster.

  • Well ... it's a long way off :rolll:

I'm surprised by the Universiade web site. It's a very expensive application they've built, with things spinning around and whatnot. But it hardly tells you anything.

  • I found the original 14 player roster for Germany here.

    S: Denise Imoudu, Corinna Glaab

    OPP: Liza Kastrup, Emilia Weske

OH: Nele Barber, Lina Alsmeier, Luisa Keller (also OPP), Emma Cyris

MB: Josepha Bock, Lea Ambrosius, Camilla Weitzel, Natalie Wilczek

    L: Linda Bock, Elisa Lohmann

Players in bold are confirmed to be in the final roster, Emma Cyris is out, so one of the remaining players also must have been cut. I expect that it was one of the MBs, so one of the liberos will play as reception specialist. Linda Bock also played as OH sometimes last season and even in VNL.

  • Semis and finals will be on fisu.tv. Not sure if they show group matches (maybe on Olympic Channel https://www.olympicchannel.com…universiade-napoli-italy/).

O-Channel appears will jump on at Men's Quarterfinals but not until Semis for women :(

  • Josepha Bock was the last player to be cut.

  • I wanna see Ksenia Smirnova as titular player

  • I just happened to check live365 and they had the JPN v ITL match going. It wouldn't play live but I could start it over. It was a low rent broadcast with commentary, Italian, I believe.

    Japan won it 3-1

  • Matches of NT (both women & men) of Italy are streamed live on Federvolley youtube channel.

wow, great stream over there. that's where the betting site stream came from. what an upgrade!

  • I just finished watching the quaterfinal, Italy smashed Brazil 3-0. I was quite surprised, Brazil made so many mistakes, they played predictable and amateurish (don't want to be rude, also Italy didn't convince me). Does someone know which players were there for Brazil? I never heard any of them.

I only saw one picture of the team and I recognized a few girls... Lyara is the setter (plays in small clubs in Brazil, used to play at the U tournaments). Lynda Jessica (MB) is also there. She plays in Rio/SESC. I also saw Natália, tall OH (she played in Brasilia last year...). Well, I don't remember about the rest. Do you have any P2 or P3 statistics?
