South Korea - Women's V-League 2019-2020

  • About Yang Hyo-Jin, she has been a top scorer since last last year for Hyundai. I wonder why she is not given a chance to attack more in NT. Is it because it is not Lavarini's style? I think she prefers a medium to high set in the middle.

  • Thank you for HYJ info.. I hope I will see her in a match...

I have always said she was Korea best blocking setter, she is even better than some of the other middle blockers in the other teams at blocking. What a performance from Lee Da-Yeong in yesterday match :super:. First female setter to reach double-digit points in a single match in the Korean league. Apparently, Yang Hyo-Jin commented after the match that it like having six attackers on the court with Da-Yeong around.

Yup, That was great performance of LDY, especially in the last 2 sets...

In international level, her performance in VNL 2019 is recognized by official FIVB YT channel: Volleyball World.. She was dedicated a 2+ minutes video titled: Lee Dayoung best Plays ... I think in that channel she's the 2nd Korean player (after KYK) who is dedicated individual video for their performance...

I'm looking forward for her performance in club and NT. I hope she can keep improving...

I just notice something interesting from IBK. Baek Mokhwa a libero? Wasn't she always an OH before? Even called to NT...

But her performance was not good in the match vs Hillstate, she was subbed in 2nd set and never play again....

I think it's not Lavarini style too coz if we see how korean NT MBs attack in recent world cup, it's from quick short toss or back slide

And maybe Yang Hyojin style isn't that effective against taller team with high blocking

After watching ibk vs hillstate, it was so frustrating to see Kim Heejin struggled to attack. She was so good in world cup.

And I don't know why ibk setter always tossing the ball to OH, knowing how good Lee Dayeong is with blocking.

its like they don't have plan B

And I agree Lee Dayeong was really good. It's rare to see setter who can attack too in v-league.

I guess all the experiences during national team season is paying off

Basically what tiffany said. Yes, she like attacking straight through the middle. For the few seasons, I have watched her play, I have never seen her run a single slide attack. Also, IMO the effectiveness of her normal attacking style is reduced against bigger MB/s from other countries. Plus you have KYK on the NT.

Thanks. Here you go, this was recently uploaded.

Yeah, Baek Mok-Hwa is a former NT OH who is now trying to play as a libero. I agree, she not doing too good in that position so far. I mentioned her taking on the libero role during the 4 teams exhibition matches in early September (post). I think her positional change is the result of letting Kim Hee-Jin playing as an OP. Statistically she was good in reception for IBK last season with her efficiency at 40.83% (= (158E - 20F) / 338 attempts).

IBK basically crashed into a wall hill called Lee Da-Yeong :wall:. She was obviously raised by Korea's blocking queen Yang Hyo-Jin :teach:.

That's the cutest video I've ever seen!

    Match Result:

    Match Stats Summary:

    MVP:

    Achievements:

    • Expressway Hi-pass Moon Jung-Won becomes the 83rd player to achieve 50 successful block points with 1 from the match (now on 50).
    • KGC becomes the 5th team to achieve 15,000 accurate receptions with 33 from the match (now on 15.031).
    • KGC Choi Eun-Ji becomes the 84th player* to achieve 50 successful block points with 3 from the match (now on 50).

    * KOVO has got Choi Eun-Ji as 83rd player too but I have put her down here as 84th because Moon Jung-Won reached the milestone first in Set 1.

    Current Team Standings:

  • Geez, Diouf received 91, 70 and then 99 (!) balls in the last three games. Insane.

KGC are kind of weak offensively overall so this was always going to be the case. The swings count is very high but if you take into consideration that Asian volleyball have more and longer rallies, players are bound to make more swings.

    5 sets vs IBK - 65 (47.10%)

    4 sets vs Hyundai - 62 (42.18%)

    5 sets vs Heungkuk - 91 (48.66%)

    4 sets vs GS Caltex - 70 (47.95%)

    5 sets vs Expressway - 99 (53.80%)

But you are right, her swing count is a kind of high.

    Match Result:

    Match Stats Summary:

    MVP:

    Achievements:

    • GS Caltex has set a new record for the most ace serves by a team in a single match with 14 ace serves.

    Current Team Standings:

  • GS Caltex absolutely destroyed Hyundai after dropping the first set :box:.

Hyundai's receivers took a battering with 14 ace serves from GS, particular Go Ye-Rim. Hyundai didn't help themselves either by committing a total of 31 errors :sos:.

Despite being top scorer for Hyundai, Maya was another player who played very poorly. She had 8 spike kills but her spike success rate was only 18.18% and even worse was her spiking efficiency was 0.00% (6 attempts was blocked and 9 hitting errors).

On a bright note for Hyundai was the wonderful performance from their new rookie Lee Da-Hyeon.

Congrats to GS on a clean sweep of Round 1 :win:. 5 wins from 5 matches and all 15 points.

  • GS Caltex absolutely destroyed Hyundai after dropping the first set

I actually got up and watched the first set before falling back asleep. The business end of that first set, especially after reaching 20, was exquisite volleyball. When I woke up I was sure I would read GS won it 3–1 ^^

    Go KIXX :super:

  • On a bright note for Hyundai was the wonderful performance from their new rookie Lee Da-Hyeon.

I thought the star for Hillstate (at least in the first set) was HWANG Min-Kyung. Apparently she's a vet. I'm not familiar with her but she had some solid kills and some true aces

  • Hillstate has a problem with their jersey design. From the back it looks like they are wearing overalls, or some kind of weird girdle

Is there someone I can talk to about this?

  • This girl was awesome the other night as well:

    Current Team Standings:

  • End of the 1st round.... GS seems superior...

What happen to Hi-Pass and Altos?

hi-Pass seems have trouble with setter... Lee Hyo Hee is getting lower in performance, and her backup is not much help... They keep rotate the two setters back and forth even in 1 set....Park Jeong-Ah, Moon Jung-Woon, Jung Do Young, Bae Yoo-Na can't help their form....

Altos new coach haven't got a good formation....

  • wow... I think It's the first time Yang Hyo Jin is not on Top 5 Block list, Lee Da Young is in instead... I think the last match vs Kixx ruined YHJ stats, where she performed poorly

Kixx attacking players dominate the spike, serve, and block lists.

Round 2 will be more interesting, I hope....
