    • Heungkuk Pink Spiders Lee Jae-Yeong becomes the 27th player to achieve 2,000 successful digs with 19 from the match (now on 2,016).

    Upcoming Schedule:

  • Is it possible that Atkinson is coming back to Korean league now she seems to be recovered? This is the kind of impression I got from her instastories.

  • Round 2 Match 7 (#54) - Heungkuk Life Insurance Pink Spiders vs. GS Caltex Seoul KIXX - November 17th, 2019

I was gearing up to watch this because it looked like there would be no Japan streams for the night, and then Hitachi v Okayama floated down from the heavens.

It was the match of the year, a 5 setter. It was just crazy volleyball. But, ya know, the production values are many notches down from Korean broadcasts, the commentators are pretty deadpan, it wasn't either team's Home game so the crowd was anemic, and one of the teams was the Okayama NoSmilers. Such a difference in culture.

I can't wait to watch this KIXX game, and bet it will, again, feel like some sort of Finals Showdown. Reading up above that LJY scored 40 points I was scared my KIXX had lost two in a row. Phew! :)

Yes, this is Jae-Yeong new personal best.

Her previous best was 37 points (35 spikes, 1 ace, and 1 block) against IBK on November 25th, 2017 (Rd 2 of 2017/18 season). Source: 1, 2, 3

Both teams spiking success rate was really good.

No sure. Teams are only allow to change foreign player once. Maybe she can play for one of the other five teams.

I don't see any recent instagram stories on her account https://www.instagram.com/sherreezzyy/ that indicate her going back to Korea.

FYI Heungkuk can still make another foreign player change because they never registered Giulia Pascucci.

Yeah, GS escaped with the win but at a hefty cost.

  • Yeah, GS escaped with the win but at a hefty cost.

I hope So-Young's injury isn't serious. And it makes me think of another difference between Japan and Korea. You'll probably get updates on how she's doing. In Japan, players just disappear.

  • question.

I havent really watched or paid attention to kgc games as much but did Jung Ho-Young(next kyk) play any games yet?

I saw her play as substitute in few games

    but just short time play

i don/t know why media keep comparing her to kyk

didn't she play as MB, not OH ?

and from the match that I saw, she still haven't make impressive effect much on her team

at the moment, I think Lee Dahyun (hyundai) is the best rookie

ah. so sad lee sooyoung is injured

I guess she will not join NT for olympic qualification in january

surprisingly, she was a pretty good libero when they played against US in World Cup

  • News Update:

    • According to GS Caltex officials on the 18th, Lee So-Young was diagnosed with a ruptured of Lisfranc ligament (around the ankle and instep area) on her right foot. The official also stated that it would take about 6-7 weeks before she returns. Hospital examination results suggest it would be difficult for her to return before the women's V-League break begins on December 19. It is estimated Lee So Young will miss about eight games.

      Sources: 1, 2, 3

So she will miss the remaining three games in Round 2 and all five games in Round 3. The Asian Olympic Qualifiers will be held on January 7-12th. Six-seven weeks means she will return between the end of December and beginning of January. Sadly it looks likely she will not be part of the Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Thailand.

  • question.

Jung Ho-Young (JHY) has made appearances in all of KGC matches so far except for the last match against Hyundai E&C. She has mostly came on as a sub to block.

    JHY stats so far:

MP SP Points Spike Serve Block Dig Set Reception Error
    6 13 3 3/11 (27.27%) 0/3 0/7 4/4 0/1 2-2/9 (0.00%) 2

The Korean media were the ones that gave her the label of 'Second KYK' when she first appears in middle school.

JHY receiving needs to improve is an obvious fact but she also lacks power and is a bit slow. Like most rookies, she is often unsure of where or what she should be doing whilst on the court.

JHY wants to play as an outside hitter (OH) and knows she needs to improve.

From what I know, she wasn't truly allowed to learn how to be a receiving OH during high school. Only on the odd occasions, did she take on some of the receiving but never regularly.

During her first year of high school, JHY could not play in competitive matches due to rules regarding her move to a high school in a different area to her middle school. In her second year, she was able to play as an OH but the senior players covered the receiving duties. In her final year, JHY plays mainly as a middle blocker due to the lack of height in the team. Sometimes however, she would move to the wings to attack.

I agreed. Lee Da-Hyeon from Hyundai is the best rookie so far. Hands down.

    LDY stats so far:

MP SP Points Spike Serve Block Dig Set Reception Error
    7 18 31 20/41 (48.78%) 3/30 8/36 10/14 1/7 2/3 (66.67%) 7
  • Talking about KGC, did anyone see Diouf's serve at 5-3 in set 4 against Hyundai?

That ball touched the line as it compressed down onto the court.

I don't understand why the video referees called the serve 'out' but in a similar situation later on in the same set at 19-22, they video referees ruled the spike from Yang Hyo-Jin toward the sideline as 'in'. I just don't get it. :/:/

    i saw that too!

i agree it definitely should be 'in'

kgc coach should protest against it

ibk vs hyundai was an insane match!!

both team fighting hard to win

i think this season there's a lot of 5 sets match

with really tight schedule, I can see the players are suffering from fatigue and injuries

    Current Team Standings:

  • News Update:

    • Hyundai E&C (HDEC) has confirmed the bad news today we had all expected was coming. An official from HDEC has confirmed Milagros Collar (Maya) is out for six weeks. She was diagnosed with a rupture to the lateral meniscus cartilage on her right knee. Maya's futures will be discussed in a team meeting tomorrow morning (Nov. 22). Source: 1
    • KOVO have released a webtoon called "네트를 넘어 V' (google translation: V Beyond The Net) which contains the stories of Korean professional volleyball legends. The series will tell the stories of six legendary Korean pro-volleyball players with three chapters each per player. The six players will be selected from the list of players named as legends in 2014 for the 10th anniversary of the V-League (Sorry, I haven't been able to find this list). The webtoon series will begin with the story of volleyball superstar Kim Yeon-Koung. "V Beyond the Net" will be serialised every Thursday with Chapter 1 released today (Sorry, it all in Korean). The series will be available for the next 5 months on Naver Webtoon (https://comic.naver.com/webtoon/list.nhn?titleId=736875) and KOVO website (I have no idea where). Source: 1

    Edit:

    Okay, I found the list.

    V-League 10th Anniversary - Women's Best 7

    • Middle Blocker 1: Yang Hyo-Jin
    • Middle Blocker 2: Jung Dae-Young
    • Outside Hitter (Offense): Kim Yeon-Koung
    • Outside Hitter (Defense): Choi Kwang-Hee
    • Opposite Hitter: Hwang Youn-Joo
    • Setter: Kim Sa-Nee
    • Libero: Kim Hae-Ran

    Sources: 1, 2, 3

  • I think it's better for Hyundai to let go of Maya and start searching for new foreigner

They need a good Opp especially now, when the race to be on top is fierce between GS-Hyundai-Heungkuk

Hwang Yoon Joo isn't like how she used to be anymore. She even need to be substituted in the last game.

Btw, I wonder why KOVO didn't consider how tight the schedule this season is when they have olympic qualification just around the corner

I can see it taking toll on NT players who mostly an ace in their team

are they THAT confident they can beat Thailand easily..

kinda scary when think about it

hopefully this not gonna bite them in the a**...
