US NCAA Women's VB

  • OK: the NCAA finally came up with its Winter-Spring tournament solution in lieu of a Fall campaign (start end of January; 48-team tourney end of April);

    now the four leagues that have started (Sun Belt), or will soon begin (ACC, Big 12, SEC) will have the Fall matches count for the selection process in 2021;

    my question for you guys (and 'like' this post if you agree): do you want results of this truncated Fall season's matches posted here? I will, if you so wish;

    despite not having the two top leagues, it will be inte4esting!

  • In the first exclusively ACC-only match of 2020, Duke def NC State 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 25-8, 23-25, 15-12). Some pretty rusty, underwhelming and ugly volleyball

    Well, was not the best Game :-) But it was only ACC and better than nothing.

    Virginia Tech defeated N Carolina 3-2 (25-18, 27-25, 21-25, 22-25, 15-10). Really a feel-good story for Virginia Tech's rookie head coach: 1st ACC league victory

    And....TX. defeated Oklahoma 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 27-29(!), 25-13)...one more; shocking upset it was: Kansas(!) def. Baylor 3-2 (19-25, 25-13, 25-22, 19-25, 15-9).

    Saturday's match, ND v. Louisville was postponed, as were a number of other contests, due to COVID-19. Clemson, UTA, S. Alabama and C. Carolina included

  • Probably the most entertaining match so far, last night between Kentucky and Mizzou

    Was wondering about the NCAA and how it was going. I've seen some games on my YouTube feed, but wasn't sure if it was a good match to watch or not.

    Which top teams haven't been able to play yet?

  • Was wondering about the NCAA and how it was going. I've seen some games on my YouTube feed, but wasn't sure if it was a good match to watch or not.

    Which top teams haven't been able to play yet?

    There's only a few top teams playing right now. Texas and Baylor are (the Big 12 conference) and Kentucky and Florida (the SEC conference). The ACC conference is a step down.

    The rest of the top teams come from the Big 10 (Wisconsin, Nebraska, Minnesota) and Pac 12 (Utah, UCLA, Stanford) conferences and they won't be playing until spring.

  • Texas are fun to watch, they have two future NT members (Eggleston and Butler)

    Baylor has probably the biggest arm in the game in Yoss Pressley. But they're missing their starting setter.

    Florida is a very all-round team. Led by their OHs and 6'7 opposite.

    Kentucky is an exciting youngish team, they play very fast. Lilley has been in the USA youth system as well as their libero.
