2019 ASEAN Grand Prix (Sept 20–22, Thailand



    The 2019 ASEAN Grand Prix will be the inaugural edition of the ASEAN Grand Prix, a new annual international women's volleyball tournament contested by 4 national teams that are the members of the Southeast Asian Zonal Volleyball Association (SEAZVA), the sport's regional governing body affiliated to Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC).

    I would say Vietnam but don't know them well enough to predict with confidence. I imagine a lot will depend on whether Aprilia Santini Manganang plays for Indonesia (she didn't play in the recent Asian Champs, don't know why) and whether Trần Thị Thanh Thúy is recovered from injury and plays for Vietnam.


    Vietnam has a good OP and MB in addition to 4T, and they play scrappy defense. That's why I would pick them

    Matches are on at 1:30am and 4:15am for me which means I won't be seeing them :( not to mention the WC scheduling conflict.

    I can't 😁 Someone always does it. During AVC Championships she got all awards on wikipedia 😁 Plus, she was the best scorer with some crazy numbers.

    PHI NT Management and Staff is very delulu and incompetent right now. Skipping AVC tournaments so that the team won't be scouted for a tournament that does not even have bearing for FIVB standings. Also missing the services of Jaja Santiago and Dindin Manabat.

    A loss helps identify what you need to work on and hopefully learn from your mistakes. Skipping a tournament to hide your players does nothing. It must be really disappointing for the fans especially since they have a large following.

    Can someone explain Viet names to me? Looking at the official roster pictures it has, for example, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy listed as:

    Last Name: Tran

    First Name: Thi Thanh Thuy

    Shirt Name: T.T.T. Thuy


    Please forgive my ignorance, but why is "Thuy" the name that gets spelled out?

    Can someone confirm this?
