Thai NT 2020

  • Wow Thai federation working hard on killing their NT, picking the coach that failed them and resigned after as their leader for the next cycle:white: how does that even make sense.

Thailand should focus finally on core youngster players like Chatchu-On (huge talent) Ajcharaporn, Pimpichaya etc. and say goodbye to the old generation.

I was gonna say make Pleumjit leader but googling her I realized she is 36 already :white: what a legend, still playing like a 20 something. Other than that I'm not sure Thailand has leader type of player. Most players are from 1984-1989 gen or 1994-1999 and no big players inbetween it afaik but I could be totally wrong.

I don't wanna see Onuma, Nootsara, Apinyapong, Malika and sadly Pleumjit anymore. And obviously it's not because I don't like them. And I agree that they wont achieve anything with thid head coach

  • Yep. Feng Kun would be an interesting choice. And she’s already living in Thailand.

Trying a new coach might not be the solution. But at least we’re trying new things. It’s a logical way to go when the old thing doesn’t work.

Anyway, personally, I still think Thailand will be at least at the same place with this coach. 4th ranking in Asia. We probably won’t fall below that level in the near future. But who knows?

  • a nice little video on YT I found of Chatchu-on's gradual performance from 2014-2020........she started playing professional club level at 14-15 years old in 2014, then went to WCH in Italy that same year too with the U23 squad and later debuted with the senior NT in 2015-present..........there are several talented girls that are taller and younger than her in various sport schools currently. I hope those girls will get a chance to take some of the same steps she did too....would be nice to have more players like her, but with a bit more height too please. lol

  • Pleumjit is btw one of the most underrated MBs in history can I just put this here...

    :serve:

To me, she is a world class mb. Despite being shorter than other well known and taller mbs consider in that category, she is never afraid to go toe go toe with anyone. Her slide attacks techniques are also among some best out there.

I love her fakes before a kill too. Sadly we likely won't see her or the other fab 5 at international stages anymore. But its for the best. The young guns need to learn to ride freely with out training wells. Lol

She also has had a colorful professional career playing in many abroad leagues including Russia, Turkey, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Vietnam and China.

  • for awhile Thatdao hasn't been performing slides due to recovering from injuries. But seem she has fully recovered and been doing them often during this past club season.

Thatdao and Hattaya are no Pluemjit, but they are the best of what's left. Can't wait to see both of them on court again.

  • These are the 27 names that Thai federation called to training camp for 2020. They started self training online back in April and transition to physical court training around June and going. None of the veteran fab 5 or Piyanut(veteran libero) was called for training camp this year. However, I don't think any of them has officially called it quits yet? joy16  ONJ know more about fab five not being included?

Some already known names and a lot of new names as well. Supposedly two teams will be formed among these 27 players.

  • From Thai Head Coach's interview last week, some of vetaran fab 5 will be called for training after volleyball tournament on 13-17 August 2020. This tournament will be lived on TVA facebook page, maybe TVA's youtube channel as well.

    The participant teams (Women) are;

    1. PEA-Srisaket - Members are current and ex-Thai NT who are working at PEA.

    2. Khonkaen Star VC

    3. 3BB Nakornnont

    4. Nakhonratchasima

    5. RSU VC

As for Piyanut, she is rested after Thyroid surgery.

  • ohh, I never knew that about PEA's team in that tournament. I always wonder why PEA only have the NT members every time, now I know. Thanks!

    Speedy recovery Piyanut!

though as much I love the veterans, I hope they only come back as assistant trainers to the NT and not actually play on the team. It's way past time for the younger girls to lead their own and not hold onto the safety net whenever things go wrong. Besides, Ajcharaporn, Thatdao, Pornpun, Hattaya and the two youngsters(Chatchu-on & Pimpichaya) have more than enough experiences on the NT at the world level to be on their own. They should actually be leading any new girls coming in............

  • Ajcharaporn, Thatdao, Pornpun, Hattaya and the two youngsters(Chatchu-on & Pimpichaya)

Geez, that's a Fab 6 right there. Who are these old timers we're talking about :)

  • legendary former CHN NT setter and wife of the old THA women's NT coach Odd from 2016, Feng Kun was recently helping out in the training camp with the young Thai setters. She suggested Thai train harder and play even faster since they lack height to compete with other top nations. I whole heartily agreed with her. They need to work on service, have better receptions or try to decreased unforced errors as much as possible.

They have a young tallish setter, but she isn't consistent or as creative, though she can help in the blocking department. I hope Feng Kun can give pointers to help her improve so she sticks to the senior NT and not the B team.

but a better idea, is if the old coach and Feng Kun just take over the women's NT lol. I'm sure both would make a great team in leading them to their first ever possible Olympic berth in 2024.

  • If Feng coaches with the same or similar quality as she played, they are set to success.. I hope they can train well and improve, they deserve to be in OG someday

  • Has Wilavan finally called it quits?

I saw a few facebook post and video of a recent interview where she said something like she wants to focus on her family going forth and and she was tearful...

Wilavan mentioned she’d like to quit next year. Her contract with Supreme will also end at the time so it’s a good time to break and have a child. No official announcement though.

Malika also posted something on her instagram implying that she’s quitted the NT after 14 years (2006-2020). Also no official announcement.

The fact that the NT camp has started and no senior players are there implies that they might be on the way out of NT. Might not be in the same time though.

  • well thats nice and sad at the same time for both. Wilavan isn't getting any younger and you don't want to be having kids at 40 +. The risk of some kind of health related issues are higher the older you are when you have a kid that late. Then again a first time mom from India had her first ever child at 70 and the baby was healthy to my knowledge

Malika is the most underrated of the Fab 5, but she was part of the team that changed THA volleyball and brought them to such heights and be known worldwide.

Wish them the best of luck in their next chapter!!!
