about beijing: ITA with aguero was humiliated by BRA, aguero was basically in a box, she couldn’t hit one past the BRA block, it was a crazy blockfest on her... btw i always wanted to see RUS x ITA 2008, now I can’t remember if i watched that match or no. in any event, had ITA reached the final, they wouldn’t have fared any better than the US. now ITA x USA was epic, that QF was more exciting than the semis or the final. i don’t know whether aguero would have changed anything... che lastima para ITA...

also, i didn’t really follow 2008 OG at the time, so what i know is mostly in retrospect from yt, but also there’s poor POL. they should have beaten JPN, but they didn’t and were eliminated in first round. i think had they traded places with SRB, they’d for sure been in QF. all SRB had to do was beat KAZ & ALG. i think at the time, POL was ranked higher than SRB.

There are two things I almost resigned myself to never see happening in my lifetime: a gold medal for the men, and a medal of any color for the women. I will probably stop watching the sport if none of this happens within 2020, Rio left an irreplaceable damage.

i think the 2nd might happen this year, specially if egonu keeps the ball inside the lines, but the 1st... i don’t think so.

Japan will play their last match against Serbia🤗

(1st seed in the pool plays the match in the hind-foremost order )

Japan will have hard time beating Korea, they have lost almost all the matches in the major tournaments. (2016 OQ, 2016 olympic games, 2018 asian games, 2019 world cup).

Also Dominicam Republic is getting stronger these days, and they are very fluctuating team so we don't know how they'll perform vs Japan. Though Japan was consistent at beating DR in every competition, DR these days is much stronger than they were before.

If Japan lost both matches, or at least one match, they will have hard time going to knockout stage. However, they have Serbia!

Japan vs Serbia😄😄 2012 and 2018, and now 2020?

I'm sure the loser of the match between Korea vs DR will have hard time going to QF though they got japan over because of Serbia!

Italy will depend mostly on Egonu's shape at OG, if she will be on beast mode Italy will be 1st or 2nd in Pool B imo

It's been 5 months since Egonu made 16 attack errors in 3-1 lost to Serbia in semi final of EC. Her efficiency was 0.

Egonu is one of the best opp in the world but she is not "simply the best", not "out of this world".
