I'm happy for Argentina, I love Marcelo Mendez and mostly of the boys, despite the fact Brazil end up 4th with an pathetic performance, this was well deserved for them, it's a big achievement and I'm glad this generation was able to win a medal. Conte was outrageous, De Cecco should win best setter, and both Solé/Loser teached Lucão and M. Souza a lot of lessons.
About Brazil: who would've thought that this could happen? (anyone who knows Renan). He pushed this team down, I'm so pissed off with this performance that I can't find the right words to say. Renan received this team from Bernardinho an didn't change almost anything and still he screw up everything. All the decisions he make it at this game was a key factor to diminished the confidence of the boys.
Some people (me too) were constantly saying that Leal-Lucarelli wasn't happening despite some random results, and this tournament exemplified this. Leal was nowhere to be found during all the competition, all the time he was looking uncomfortable, unhappy and Lucarelli showed today one of the worst performances that I saw from him. They play the same role, they can't provide the defensive role that is needed for at least one OH and this damaged theirs performances at was supposed to be their main weapon: attack, because both of them was too much time worried covering each other, especially because Thales, unfortunately it's not a libero with enough skills to be the starter not even for middle level team.
Douglas wasn't treated right, the same goes for Alan, Isac and Cachopa. Bruninho, Wallace and Mauricio Souza underperformed the whole tournament but they were treated as untouchables, and then, at the tie break when Brazil was hopeless, Renan put all of them in court expecting a miracle.
I don't know what to expect next year (or even next month, maybe we lose the South American Championship to Argentina and learn one more lesson from Marcelo?). But, I would appreciate not to see at least M. Souza. Wallace, M. Borges, Thales, Lucão and Bruninho anymore, we need some fresh blood, but, I've been following volleyball enough time to know that Bruninho will stay forever if he wants and this dishearte me a lot.

Btw, I was watching the match in Argentina Tv, TyC Sports...gosh, Huge Conte was just so so so excited, full of emotions.
He said: I got a bronze medal 33 years ago. When Facundo was a little kid, he used to play vball wearing it. But now he got one and I could play with it too".
Just a reminder: Hugo Conte, Facundo's dad, is a former vball player. He got the first ever Argentinian vball medal in Seoul 88. It was a bronze medal and he also defeated Brazil. He played SFs in Sydney 2000. Hugo is considered one of the best players of his generation.
His dad could get it on his days.

I just understand some quick phrases as: "You did your part, I am very proud, all of us are very proud, all", "You changed the history", "After you did XXX, you finally XXX". I dont understand more, despite of Im Spanish native speaker

One of Facundo Conte's talents is to cry without tears, eh? He said something like "protocol" in the interview. Was it because he wasn't supposed to stand too near to his father?

Brazil will be once again an example of a team that wasn't prepared well to the tournament, but players will get criticized due to coaches' lack of skills. Wallace was flying all over the court during VNL, spiking almost at 60% throughout a competition, and he was awful in Tokyo, so ask yourself if the problem is Wallace not being worthy NT-spot, or coaches who peaked with a shape during Nations League. There's no coincidence that the only player of Brazil who looked to be in shape throughout a tournament from the starting lineup was Lucao, who missed majority of VNL. As much happy I am for Argentina, as sad that this great Brazilian generation ended this way. Renan was so weak in reactions on events on the court tho. That's a Bernardinho factor, because I don't think something like that would have happened if he'd stayed.
Volleyball due to its repetitive manner and very close scoring, where you have to jump during every possession basically, and win a set by scoring two points more, is extremely dependent and sensitive on physical shape of your team in general, and Brazil looked certainly worse than during VNL. So well done, coaches.

It is possible to achieve double-peak but what’s important is what you do between those two major events. In this case, and on the Olympic volleyball case as general, most teams failed to create and develop a suitable and effective training program in between. The two major success are the Brazilian and USA women’s team, both played the final in VNL and later in this Olympic.

Brazil I think lost when Renan did not chose to let go the starters during set 4. Only Lucas was playing relatively well AND by the end, all are disheartened to even bother, which is shocking given the depth that Brazil has.

I agree, Brazil looked to be better playing when Schwanke was the head coach. They are just uninspired.

He was the best player of argentina in tournament imo despite liking all other players and the roster was almost the same from rio,loser and danani were an upgrade from gonzales and crer but imo the difference was him

I'm excited for the next match. Both RUS and FRA did really well this tournament. I do think that FRA have a better chance but still wishing for ROC to make a great run!
