Good on, Russia! I like Mikhailov and Iakovlev, but I was rooting for Brazil. That third set was theirs to take but they blew it.

Russia deserved this win, what an amazing performance by Mikhaylov. He’s very impressive, even more impressive if we consider that he has been on the run for years already.
I feel very sorry it ended up this way for Brazil, especially because of the third set. I think Russia did a very strong match, but I cannot not mention that Bruno, as it happened through the whole season, was very imprecise, and we had no better option because inexplicably William wasn’t there. As for Brazil: I still think they're superior as a team. But this is the Olympics. Yesterday we saw Korea beat Turkey in the women's side. Maybe 9 times out of 10 Turkey would have won. But the one time they didn't is the one it actually happened.
Of course Russia vs Brazil is a match a lot more balanced. But these very 2 times, Russia was better. That's what it counts.

Ivan Iakovlev is the best middle blocker in the world right now. Russia should focus on Kurkaev coming 2022 WCh. Iakovlev - Kurkaev duo can do damage in any team.
