South Korea - Women's V-League 2020-2021

  • News out today is that Hyundai E&C will have a new head coach next season. After four seasons, LEE Do-Hee time at the helm has come to an end with the team deciding not to renew her contract. Hyundai E&C has not yet officially announced who their next head coach will be but one media outlet so far has reported that Hyundai E&C is expected to appoint KANG Sung-Hyung as their new head coach. KANG Sung-Hyung is currently the assistant coach for the Korean Women's NT under Stefano LAVARINI.

Also, Hyundai E&C might not be the only team to change their head coach, with Korea Expressway Hi-pass' KIM Jong-Min and IBK Altos' KIM Woo-Jae contract expiring at the end of the season.

  • Yah I saw the news today as well.

Personally I would have liked to see more female coaches for female volleyball. Its a pity that they are not renewing her contract.

It just shows how important a "world class setter" like Lee Da Young is setter is really that can make or break a team.

Would be interesting to see how the Korea Expressway and IBK coaches outcome go as well.

  • Well i dont think she did a bad job, sure they finish last this season, but their performance is on the rise.

She raise Kim Da In from zero to something, develop Jeong Ji Yun and Lee Da Hyeon.

Knowing how Korean team works, they probably need a scapegoat.

Kim Jeong Min coach is doing fine to, considering starting with new setter after Lee Hyo Hye retired.

as for Kim Woo Jae, im not a fans but IBk did enter the playoff

  • I can't look at Diouf. She is so slow, looks like lazy. She is very tall and can't block. She looks more like a tourist in Korea than volleyball player for me

Haha, pretty funny comment. However, Diouf is the no1 scorer so far in the league I believe.

One thing is for sure, without Diouf today, KGC would not win any sets against the reserve players of GS Caltex.

You got me wrong :) I am not hater of Diouf. I like her character as a person, she is really nice. I don't like her style of playing. She seems lazy for me. Or not concentrated at all. I don't know. But she should be a beast, she is one of the best players in history of KOVO - i'm talking about her career and achievements.

It would be something wrong if MVP of the CEV Cup, MVP of the italian supercup and best opposite of champions league final four wouldn't be the best scorer od korean league. Come on. That's not an acheviement... She is in the best age for player and looks sometimes like 48 years old playing.

This is the volleyball forum. I hope I can have a opinion about something. Not always positive...

And one more time. I'm not talking about her stats. I'm talking about her movement, jumping, no emotions. She is looking like "I don't care about this league" for me. Maybe I'm strange but that's how I see Diouf this season.

  • Yes when I was watching the game today (as with many of her past few games) her movement did look very touristy. It seems like she tries but doesn't really try yet most of the sets go to her as KGC desperately tries to win.

I know you have nothing against her, once again, I thought that was just a funny comment which made me LOL in resonance.

But as "lazy" as she looked on screen, she definitely somehow delivered the numbers for the win (today) and proved herself as the top scorer. I guess its the typical "eye test" versus " stats. And unfortunately her not so best is still the best in Korea.

Anyways, lets see where she goes next season, she was also deliberately not giving any hints whether she would continue to play in Korea, go to Japan or elsewhere.

    Cheers

  • She wouldn’t play two years in a row on KGC if she wasn’t interested.

That’s just her playstyle which is perfect for KGC, weak on wings.

I reckon having Oh Ji Young one of the best libero in Vleague can cover the defense, so Diouf should just focus on attack only.
with KSH and LSY Fa next season, its in the best interest of KGC to strengthen their wings, so they can pick a more balance foreign player.

  • where i can see the FA list for next season?

depending on what will happen to twins, heungkuk might also targeting KSH or LSY. maybe ibk also join the race for strengthen their wings.

He's obsessed with Lee Jae-yeong, but he has no idea who she is (he only knows KYK). Hilarious. :rolll:
