2021 Women Volleyball Nations League

  • I heard last week that FIVB changed mind and there won't be "bubble system", but tournaments in 4 places. It was said by polish journalists and they said very playful, that FIVB still changes its ideas. So maybe Italy applied for one of these tournaments.

I heard about this as well, two groups in Europe, one is Asia, and the other in the Americas.

How will the final round work with this format though or if there will even be one?

  • According to the Turkish volleyball federation President's statement , italy turkey and usa have applied to Fivb to host The women's vnl.

Where Covid is still spreading rampantly:rolleyes: Makes sense though, countries that have it under control would never apply. I just hope it's not mandatory to go this year.

  • Italy will host the vnl for men and women

Interesting, let see how they do their bubble system

But italy is kinda the right choice, they organized 3 wch in last decade and are always doing good

  • Italy probably doing the tournament because they are expecting the top teams not sending their best players. :super:

Favorite players: M: Maxim Mikhaylov, Murilo, Serginho, Aaron Russell, Otavio, Simone Giannelli, Ivan Zaytsev, Tsvetan Sokolov, Michał Kubiak, Mariusz Wlazly, Pawel Zagummy W: Sheilla, Zhu Ting, Natalia, Fe Garay, Fofao, Gabi, Thaisa, Foluke Akinradewo, Wei Qiuyue, Ding Xia, Carli Lloyd, Fabi, Natalia Goncharova, Yuko Sano, Saoris Kimura and Sakoda

  • I just read the volleyball.it page and it says that Italy gonna realizes the entire tournament including the final

And there won't be final 6,the best 4 teams at the end of groups stage gonna participate in a Final 4

I doubt Mazzanti put best players considering the lobg and exhausting club season

But now that they are at home they can make play some of starters

But I doubt Italy is aiming to win this

  • I don't see a stadium mentioned in the articles.

RDS Stadium where they're playing the Coppa Italia? Or are there multiple stadiums?

I imagine one of them is the ones from the coppa italia finals

    But I don't know rimini,can a italian explain ?

I would imagine they would choose conegliano, milano, verona instead

I never heard a tournament realized in rimini before

  • Teams will play 15 matches in 4 weeks and it starts just 3 weeks after the end of league seasons :white::white::white: On the one hand I think keeping it short may increase the chance that all teams will indeed participate and maybe also some with their best players, but on the other hand it will be extremely exhausting to play so many matches in such short time without enough rest after league season and without time for good physical preparation :aww:

Surely there are going to be some big rosters. Other than ranking points... I wonder how many will take this super seriously

  • I imagine that teams that aren't going to olympics can go with full roster

Even dominican republic go always with their best

For the rest I don't know

  • I think they picked Rimini because it's a pretty big summer tourist hotspot, considering there won't be much tourism this year there would be many vacant places for accomodations and various facilietes (auditoriums, conference rooms etc.) in a pretty restricted place. For the stadiums, I think it would be RDS Stadium and/or Palasport Flaminio (I'd say likely both), but I can't see an official announcement on it yet.

I just saw they're going to have both female and male tourneys in Rimini at the same time, so likely on of the stadiums for female and one for male, or maybe even play some of the matches in nearby cities, I think there are at least like 7/8 available stadiums in around 30mins of travel from Rimini

Is there a possibility to make some changes inside the squad during the tournament, or do they have to play all 15 matches with the same 14 players?
