2021 Women Volleyball Nations League

  • And with another very good performance :super::obey: Looks like VNL might not end up being a complete failure eventually...

After the match Vanjak joined the team in celebrations, but I didn't see Ambrosius and Cekulaev around and I wonder if they have left ?( Cekulaev 4 days ago posted a photo on her IG in a room that doesn't look like a hotel room so I suspect she's gone :gone: She hasn't played a single rally and even though the purpose to bring her probably was to enable her to work with the team and see some world class players from up close, it's a bit disappointing...

  • I understand ur words.but Their volleyball fed cant change this .every team belongs to local Physical Culture Administration.so ...good news is yuan is not a soldier now.we have chance to see her playing abroad

Wow interesting to hear how each country tries to keep their players from going abroad, wonder how that works though

    Not familiar enough

Another reason is that if the Chinese players stay home they can get advertising contracts more easily. For example when zhu ting went to turkey after Rio most of the advertising went to others like Hui (the captain) and Zhang. Once she was back in the CVL she had more advertising contracts.

Maybe she never cared about such things, but a lot of people do. For example Zhang's mother didn't really want her to play abroad due to earning less.

In China if you're basically stuck in the club that you joined when you started playing pro volleyball unless your home team approves your transfer. For Yuan, it was almost impossible for her to play overseas as she was part of the Bayi Team which is basically the sports wing of the PLA, but then after PLA reforms last year, the Bayi Team was disbanded, so I guess she got to choose another club to join (or maybe someone decided for her) and she chose Tianjin. Zhu Ting's a special case because her home club Henan was always one of the weakest teams in the Chinese league with or without her and I guess she got strong endorsement from Lang Ping to play overseas to improve her skills.

Yuan actually did express interest to play overseas back when Zhu was having her first or second season at vakifbank. But I haven't heard anything in recent times.

Surprising, you'd think her team being the weakest would be more desperate to keep her tied to them (like some other selfish countries/clubs lol)

But thank goodness for her sake she got to go overseas and grow more

Thanks for sharing, very interesting to know more haha

  • No, I'm Turkish and I was born and raised in the Netherlands but I went to Singapore for my Uni for one year (btw I want to do my masters in Korea) I love to go all around the world

Haha interesting~ feel like a lot of Dutch people tend to pursue Masters more haha

Maybe cause education is free/cheaper there

Actually it's not exactly free here at all like a lot of other countries in Europe sadly :( many of my friends don't pursue it either.

I just use education to be able to travel and live in a lot of different countries lol 😂 and I'm not rich at all and in a lot of debt so... But yolo.:drink:

  • Geez, Ana Cristina, Rosamaria are not in this match's lineup

  • Hopefully they rest starting lineup for Korea

  • I'm worried about Gabi. She barely had time to rest after CL final, and has started and played in (I think) every match so far. She must be exhausted!

  • lol at Ze Roberto coaching Macris at the service line lol

  • And the injuries begin to show up... Second game in a row with Gattaz on the bench, and we know that Ze don't rest anybody... She has a back injury.. good job Ze

  • No one resting against Thailand... against THAILAND! Come on! I'm just tired of this team

Hope Brazil doesnt arrive all burned out for the Final4.

If Im not wrong, they have been the team which has rotated less their players. Even DOM, so criticized cuz of always playing with the same 6, has rotated the bench. I really hope this doesnt backfire not only for the VNL; but also for the Olympics.

With al the due respect to Thailand and other "weaker" teams on paper, if you dont play with your bench against them, when would it be the right time?
