  • Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez future US president:heart:

    I just love her

  • One gets the impression that Democrats would rather lose with an establishment figure(head) than win with a left-leaning candidate like Bernie (or even with someone who strongly opposes imperialistic wars like Tulsi).

Cause honestly, the Dem party is (mostly) far from being leftist. Left votes/representatives go there only because in a (dumb) system with only two parties it's either going with the democrats or get lost. Dems know they're getting those leftist vote in any case, while having a leftist candidate would probably make them lose part of the moderat voters. It's crazy how for a huge part of americans policies that go sligthly to the left=literally Soviet Union, they're even calling Kamala Harris of all people a marxist.

For sure. For a nation so involved in the concept of freedom, they surely like to be oblivious to the fact that they have almost no freedom at all. As long as the status quo is maintained, I find it hard to believe things are going to change in the US and to a larger extent, the world. Having said that, seeing Trump leave is still cause for celebration nonetheless, even if it's by Biden taking the office.

Exactly! They know that they will get the votes of not only leftists, but of lower and middle class urban population (about whose interests democratic establishment doesn't give a rat's ass) whatever they do. On the other hand, not only would they lose the support of upper middle class and 1%, but also the monetary support from their lobbyists. This has resulted (as it was bound to) in Democratic party establishment's values getting increasingly alienated from a huge chunk of their voter's base, and it's only the fact that republicans are even worse that is stopping them from bleeding votes over time.

Well that's why many people voted for trump isn't it. He marketed himself as someone who will f*ck up the system and the establishment.

  • So ... new census this year means new gerrymandering of House Districts ... GOP picked up a dozen? or so seats in 2020 ... means lookout for big gains of QAnon in the US House of Representatives in 2022 :(

Deja vu of the tea party. You can talk all you want about the idealism of candidates and this, that, and other things. This is why GOP WINS. They could give a shit about ideals. Power begets power.

  • AOC is a national treasure. Which means, unless American society undergoes a radical change in the next 20-30 years, she'll never be president.

Sad but true, easily the most probable outcome is: she'll be neglected her entire carreer much like Bernie and then you notice they were right all along and things they said years ago are starting to be implemented by the same people that fought them to remain system :clown: You never know though, I like to always remain optimistic.

Even if they are not elected I believe such progressive voices are so important for any nation and will directly or indirectly help the future generations understand the perspective and help them progress eventually. Change is the only inevitable thing.

Spot on. The irony is that electing such people as AOC is almost impossible in today's neo-liberal late-stage capitalist system without large systemic changes of the kind for which you elect people like her to effect in the first place!

Do you remember the way she grilled Mark Zuckerberg? I don't think I've ever seen a person look so nervous in my whole life, and we are talking about one of the wealthiest and most powerful individuals in the world.:obey::heart:

Never mind that she is drop dead gorgeous with the sexiest hands on earth.

She holds public office, though, in this late stage thingamabob you mention. She's new generation. Bernie is an old school curmudgeon. Electing people like him is impossible. Oh wait, he holds public office, too. The irony :P

    I meant elect for a president.:P

  • I meant elect for a president.:P

I think it's very possible. Her looks and charm throw people off. As others have mentioned here, she does her homework and knows how to present a case. I remember when she was just ramping up and got "caught" being uninformed about how things work. She can school those people now. Keep your hopes up.

What are you talking about? Everybody knows Biden is a socialist :P

  • Ahh, I recognise a fellow connoisseur of politics.8):P

  • Democrats talked about COVID all the time before and during elections, and now they are in big crowds, doing parties and things like that. Yeah they wearing the mask and you can literally see just few person are wearing them PROPERLY !!!

    Hypocritical in full form. :gone:
