Volleyball Thailand League 2020-2021

  • Isn’t this coach was the one who responsible in bringing Thai NT to the world’s stage? I always think Thai played better under him. And Ajcharaporn was a rising star until Thai NT was taken over by that smiling coach.

yep, it's that coach and he is married to Chinese legendary setter, Feng Kun. He also brought out such talents as Thatdao, Ajacharaporn, Chatchu-on, and Pimpichiya. I think Thailand made their highest world ranking under him at one point at #8 on FIVB's ranking. If the smiling coach was smarter, he would have also found some younger talents as well to take in and train them and not just focusing on the fab 5 every time. I think had the 2020 Asian Olympic qualifier been under the former coach, the result may not have been 3-0 in Korea's favors, but results likely would have been better even if they still lost. lol

(sorry i don't mean to say the current coach is useless, he has done some good with the NT, but he seems to have done all that he could've done and reach his peak)

why did the old coach leave the team? wasn't his personal decision of federation didn't want to work with him anymore?

  • im not positive, but I think the not being able to take them to Olympics and family/personal affair made him decided to retired? ONJ you might know more?

a quick look at Wikipedia revealed that he wanted to spend more time with his family. After getting married in 2014, he apparently divided his time between Beijing, which is his wife’s hometown, and where he coached the Beijing BAW team, and Bangkok where he was head coach of the national team. The commuting must have taken a toll on him.

Another thing, he might have felt that he let the Thai V fans down by not qualifying for Rio2016. Imo, it was hardly his fault.

He retired due to personal reasons and spent some time being a coach in China. He’s now living with his family in Thailand and, if I remember correctly, just got some management position in AVC.

Feng Kun is also an instructor for AVC now. It’d be interesting to have her as a coach for NT :cheesy:

  • I feel so bad for them. I still don't know what happened with the system that made Thatdao unable to come in again. And that subsequent red card for the coach. I can see Pleumjit's eyes were like giving up at that point.

‘subsequent red card....’ which led a point deduction, I believe...and coming at a crucial moment of the match. It’s one of those moments you want to forget, but can’t :(
