Volleyball Thailand League 2020-2021

  • Pleumjit could play volleyball with her eyes closed. She is so suave (and the tattoo is )

Ajcharaporn looks all grown up now

  • This is it....the last match of 2020/2021 Daikin Thai women’s volleyball league....The winners of the league will be decided today.

Diamond Food have the advantage, and the only way Nakorn Ratchasima can win is a 3-0 sets victory today, with a superior win/loss points ratio.

  • The Live broadcast of the Daikin Volleyball Thailand League Awards Ceremony for 2020/21 will start in a few minutes. I believe it is a joint ceremony for both men’s and women’s events.

The champions for the women’s event is DIAMOND FOOD and the runner up is Nakorn Rachatsima (Korat), and for the men’s event it the reverse....Korat are the champions and Diamond Food, runner up.

    :win:

  • LOL, I was taken aback for a moment because of the photo of Captain Flat Foot on the screen :) I just started watching this. I wish Soraya Phomla was a superstar <3 So much joy in Thailand volleyball :rose:

hey captain flat foot jumps too.....................at times :rolll:

Soraya is a known setter of Thailand, but I believe she has health issues that is too much for her to handle the NT training and duties stuff going on. So she only plays small tournaments or locally. She is kinda like Miyashita, where people wished she was part of the NT all the time, but isn't. She is probably the closest current setter with the most similar style to Nootsara, but alas....anyway, I have hopes the young setter of Khonkaen, she looks to have potential to be a future Nt setter. we'll see............

  • for the awards, especially in the men's division, the best OPP should have been Amorntep(super lefty from 3rd placed team) and not Kantapat. Unless they were only talking about the final 4 stats?, but still, best OPP is Amorntep any day. lol or could have been Aimal as well.

there are lots of young talents in both the men's and women's teams, hope to see some new faces in the various local, regional and international scene soon.

The shock of the evening is Nootsara not getting the Best Setter award, but why am I not surprised if Nootsara herself is not overly upset with this.

  • The best setter award is judged by statistics. Sirima has better running set ratio as she’s the main setter of Korat in both legs and the final series.

Nootsara comes in 2nd leg so she has lower running set ratio. Nevertheless, she’s still in ranking 3 which is very high for a person who plays only 60% of the matches.

I think Nootsara is cool about it. Everyone knows she’s a legend. It’s a known fact

  • I knew the day will come, but I wasn’t expecting it so soon .... all five members of the Fab 5 golden girls are not in the line up for the VNL ;(

  • It is time for Pornpun to really step up as the starting setter.

and she needs to be healthy through out VNL. The back ups are either inconsistent or not experienced enough. But I dislike how the backup tend to not jump and set much and just stand there. Though that might change during actual VNL games(fingers crossed).

i still can’t fathom watching that nt without fab five. but it is loooong overdue.

on the bright side, we are FINALLY going to watcj Thai new-gen golden triangle Ajcharaporn, Pimpichaya, Catchu-on on action together! Soooo excited for this!

  • In 2020, fivb.com ran an article on the FABulous 5 of Thailand’s women’s volleyball. Here is an excerpt of that article:-

“ Lausanne, Switzerland, March 4, 2020 – Wilavan Apinyapong, Pleumjit Thinkaow, Nootsara Tomkom, Onuma Sittirak and Malika Kanthong are Thailand's Fab Five. Synergy, intuition and creativity define their style of play, which makes them incredibly exciting to watch.....”

  • oh too bad. I always consider her a part of the fab 5, more like fab 6 😂

Do you mean Piyanut Pannoy who wears #2 in the National team ? They have a famous six key holder, but it’s fab 5 + no. 1 so I’m not sure if it’s her (probably not since liberos wear a different colour shirt) The team also have a ‘golden girl’ libero...Tikamporn Changkeaw who played for Diamond Food this season.
