Japan Women's NT 2021

  • some of those kids are not ready for prime time yet. Kurogo is one of those. All the veterans. Whose left right now? Araki, Ishii, Shimamura and Tashiro.

2020 this team would have been better with Shinnabe and Nabeya in the mix. Better passing and capability off the bench.
Koga more or less was the best player in 3 matches. Shimamura did much better than Erika (love Erika but her numbers sucked) and Yamada should have got more court time.

They wasted time on Nagaoka waiting for her.

They wasted time on making Kurogo an ace. They why not just let Nabeya take over on the right. Just say you hate Nagaoka

  • After the way this team tanked so badly, I wonder if he's still up for it. Or will JVA hire a different coach entirely

    nah...

the answer is naturalization of a foreign player.

I'm sorry for the locals but it is what it is. It's not enough.

  • The ace player usually is the one who gets the ball no matter how high the ball is or bad the pass was from the setter.

It's not a japanese concept. It is very popular in many asian nations with basketball backgrounds because almost every team in basketball needs an ace to thrive.

Ok. It's important to know the inception of the concept.

But I have the feeling, by reading what people said, that somehow this achieved a whole special meaning, among this group at least. I think it had to do with the way Nakada presented it for this group, and how the Kurogo was seen by fans and stuff.

  • Melissa Valdes then if she survives V League

I tried to do an IG search but it led me to an IG model.:sos:

  • Something I realized the other day, I won't post links since you guys are against Yahoo Topics, but when the women's team lost to Korea there was a huge outburst surpassing news of the men's team advancing to QF. Their loss to Korea was a death sentence. It seems almost a national issue. I had to unfollow several Japanese fans on twitter because they were lashing out for hours. Compared to their loss to Dominican Republic, that was disturbing. If I were a Toray or JT staff, I'd go ahead with a lawsuit.

I was about to share today's link :rolll: it got 500+ comments already

  • Pretty normal, Japan vs Korea matches are highly anticipated by both countries and they have a strong rivalry with one another (due to political reasons)

Had Korea lost to Japan they'd be on the receiving end of the hate by Koreans & Korean media too, they're being heralded a lot now since they won over Japan

But anyway on Japan crashing out... well they're honestly a young team and has room to grow & improve. They definitely need to strengthen in the mental department during clutch situations and find an ace they can rely on (I guess that'll be Koga? not sure how she fares during clutch though)
Ishikawa is consistent but seems very shaky during clutch situations. Also definitely need taller players if they want to contend for medals

That's not the issue this time

  • Sorry to say this but I’ve never seen anything special from Araki.

There's no better JPN MB than her and Shimamura as of now. That's why she's still around and got call up to Team A. It's painful to ackowledge that since i started to follow JPN around the same time Araki first came to the picture, and never thought there would be a day i could not name a decent local MB from V-league :-(.!

Yep, about right, anyone but Korea! and at an Olympic, at home! That's a big no, even for me :rolll:. Hopefully no youngster retired due to stress after this disaster.

    isnt it true tho?

Defly worse than Obayashi's last Olympic games in Atlanta 1996, but not as bad as Takeshita's first Olympic rejection in 2000. Competition was way much tougher back then, anyway.
