What if this team had a serious coach? I'm a little bit upset they managed to win at least a silver medal with the zen guy on bench. Imagine this pool of players with coaches like Ze Roberto, Guidetti, Lang Ping, Bernardinho...
I still think Kiraly didn't make the best calls for the 12 people roster. I don't care he will bring home a medal.

Give kiraly and the 12 player a BREAK!!!

As much hate he gets, he did manage to bring USA to two finals this year, and possibly two gold medals. That must have mean he at least done some things right.

or his players are really good
Not making the VNL final with this team would've been a failure.
The Olympics... well tonight will decide that. Either way, win or not... bringing two players to not even play... is the wrong decision. They don't have a backup plan for tonight.

Huh? So you expect if he brings swp she will play over krob?
Who are those two players not playing? Hill if fine as serving sub. Hancock played well as backup setter when poulter got injured, krob did just what she can as a sub for mbh. Why will you push these 3 backups if the starters are doing just fine? As much as i like hill to play and i hate kiraly for not letting her pla!!! if that is the plan and it did work (for now) i think i am fine with it as long as they win.
The players always get the credit when they win for sure but we also should credit the coaching staff for how they create this team. Prepare them and bringing the RIGHT 12.

It's about Hill and Hancock.
Hill is not a suitable replacement for MBH (nor is Krob)... MBH has struggled all tournament and there is no plan B. SWP could've been that plan B.
Hancock was brought for her serve.... she didnt even come in against Serbia. She has 1? ace maybe through the tournament. Carlini is a better setter/defender and could've been used when Poulter was struggling.
In the end it may not matter... the starting 6 may perform to the level expected and subs won't be needed. The problem with the selection is, what if subs are needed.... In 16 we needed Lowe, Harmotto, etc. In London we needed Hodge, Tama, DSA. etc.
Karch doesn't even have options now. Krob has no offense, Hancock he doesn't trust... he's just lucky to not be in a situation where the starters have affected the result so poorly (other than Russia)... He's being bailed out by JT/JWO/Larson
-
It doesn't even have to be about SWP or Carlini or Plummer or anyone specifically.
Karch doesn't have a backup plan. That's the big issue. He's relying on his big guns to get it done.
-
I mean every team relies on their big guns. I would love for SWP to be here but we'd all be calling for a tell-all-book from Kim Hill or KRob if that happened.

I want that too. Kim Hill has to have good dirt
Look at Serbia... They could've used Lazovic. Italy could've used Nwakalor (and to an extent Gennari)
China... well they were a lost cause
-
the only issue i am seeing is the pairing between mbh-krob and larson-hill. Hancock is doing just fine as sub, forget about her serve! Even chi is useless lol not because she is not good but because the starters are doing good too.

you don't really want me to get started do you
-
Karch didn’t bring Hancock only because of her serve. He brings her because She is BETTER than messy Carlini. When you will realize it ?
Better setter is in final of Olympics
Carlini fans stay at home as She did. Bye -

MBH-Hill, Krob-Larson is what the pairings should be.. but Karch doesnt see it that way (which is another fault)
Karch doesnt trust Hancock, that's the problem, not Hancock setting specifically. He didn't bench Poulter when she was poor in the group stage... chose to start a hobbled Poulter over her in *an Olympics semifinal* That's the problem.
-
First off....Hancock is really good but she's not better than LC. The battle for the starting setter was always going to be between JP and LC. Funny as it sounds but Hancock secured that backup roll way before the coaches finally gave that role to Poulter.
It's tough because we have so many options but the limited roster size in the OG and the time the individual players put in for the cycle was a huge factor. I think every one that was pick ahead of their counterparts were either better in their positions or invested more time in the NT and contributed to their past successes.
JT over Karsta
, Chiaka and Hales over Adams and Tori and JWO over Courtney. The ones left behind have been in the program longer but the 2021 Olympians are the better players now. Hancock, (Krob) and Hill are in that other group. Meaning they're going to be in the Olympics (no matter what) as long as they're healthy. JP over LC really comes down to who had the better season and maybe better connection/more willing to involve the MB's. It's tough for coaches. They're chasing that elusive gold but they have all those things to consider when building this roster.
