Russia NT 2021

  • Well, I think Germany was the strongest team they'll face this week. The Netherlands is incomplete and Belgium is kinda inexperienced, so I think Buzato should try Arina or Smirnova against those teams.

  • You underestimate the Netherlands, but in the next matches Busato should include Smirnova or Fedorovtseva, and maybe Kasputina

  • Russia brought in the jump servers. Kotova would have been perfect with this team with her float serve.

Reception was poor but good thing they were out hitting Germany.

It was 3-0 but it was a scrappy win by the girls. This should be a confidence booster going in with the more difficult teams.

I hope Sergio, to replace Maligina in two weeks, I want Kotova to participate until the end of the competition, but I guess she will call Efimova..

  • Is Pipunyrova in the roster? I thought I hadn't seen her even in the bench against the match with Germany. I'm interested with this player..

She isn't on the 1st week's roster. She may play next week.

I also wanna see Kapustina (Sazonova).

  • im surprised lazarenko is not playing in vnl

Busato should be careful around windows in second floor and above because of how he handled the MB lineup especially if they don't show any good impressions for VNL or worse in Olympics and Eurovolley.

  • Malygina taking number 2 jersey like she's an ace can never not be funny to me. The audacity. :gone:

Prove us wrong though. I wanna get shellshocked.:super:

  • Week 1 is complete and I would say the girls played better than I expected.

Bright spots were Fedorovtseva and Smirnova and that they need to play starter next week.

Voronkova’s reception and FD have been commendable too.

Gonch played as expected but will not be able to sustain this kind of level especially with a long tourney and tougher opponents.

Liberos played subpar especially Pilipenko. As a newbie Zaysteva played ok.

Setters were ok. Predictable sets but it is expected with their poor reception. Lazareva seems to be a liability in the net.

The biggest let down are the middles. Malygina and Brovkina were making points against the Ned but because they move awkward and slow and Ned get caught on their feet. What the heck happened Fetisova?? We know her blocking is her biggest asset but its been non-existent. it is frustrating to watch because we know there are girls back home who are better but for whatever reason are being left out.

I think Russia really need to transition out with the Gonch/Koshe/Start era now and just have Smirnova, Fedo and Lazareva/Matveeva start every game next week and see who survives since we already know those three are going to the OG then just integrate Lazareva, Malova, Romanova in the later weeks.

  • My Feedback for this week.

a.) Fedorovsteva - Bright star. Gives me Artamanova vibes when she was recruited as part of A Team when she was just 16 y.o. Very High efficiency rate, has a potential to be a scoring machine. Reception is decent and even better than Koshes peak in recpetion. atheleticism can be improved. SHe looks like 10 y.o playing on a 6’3 body frame.

b.) Smirnova- first time seeing her game. She has some weird spike choices. Great serve. I will put Voronkova ahead of her, could be a serving specialist. If shes a starter, i will sub kosheleva on crucial blocking chances.

c.) Goncha- Still a queen. Can score 20 plus even with this reception. I can still see a power in her, verticial jump not so deteriorated as compared to Koshe.

d.) Kosheleva- vertical jump deteriorated so much compared to last time ive watched her (2016-2017). Shes a natural leader. Better blocker than Goncha.

e.) Fetisova- i barely recall seeing her or hearing her name on the game. Her main output is block and it was non existent.

f.) Zaryazko- shes hitting weird the past 2 games. I dont know if its a setter problem but she has no clean hits yet. When i say clean hits, i mean Thaisa menezes type of hits.

g.) Brovkina/ Malygina- i dont understand why they are here from what ive watched.

h.) Voronkova- better reception, muscled spike. Low vertical jump for her 6’4 frame. Ill put her as starter though.

i.) Startseva- still a good setter but far from her 2012 textbook type of sets.

kapustina- serve specialist. Not a wise spiker. The rest i cant recall or im not familiar or have not seen big potential.

  • Having Malygina, Brovkina, and Gorbunova on the roster is unreasonable, first, they must be among the best of the Russian League and then be called :whistle:

I totally agree with you on this matter. Having Lazarenko in the national team today would have saved us in the most difficult moments. There is noo need to even talk about her connection with Lazareva because they have been playing in the same club (D.Krasnodar) for two years and they will play in Kazan next year, so Lazareva could use Lazarenko too much.

When there is a possibility to switch players (after 3rd week), I do hope Malygina and Brovkina will be replaced by Kotova and Efimova, and Gorbunova with Lazareva and Parubets. It would be better if such experiments (Malygina, Brovkina, Gorbunova) were done in clubs, not in the NT because there is not much time for such an experiment in the NT.

  • I agree that Busato could have fielded a starting six that is a mix of experienced and newbies and rotate them alternately. Maybe that way, the newbies wouldn't struggle much? Hopefully, we'll see Anna Lazareva next week. Are there chances we'll see Lazarenko and Enina in NT in this tournament?

Lazarenko or Enina did not even make the wide roster so If they want to subout Malygina and Brovkina it will be Kotova and Efimova.

We will definitely see A. Lazareva in the 4th week along with Romanova and Malova. And maybe Parubets. Those 6 players will be sub in.

Not in VNL, but Sokolova talked about it a few days ago on Instagram and said that Lazarenko would be invited to the national team when needed. It may even be this year (OGs or Ech) if the performance of MBs in the national team does not satisfy the coach.

  • I'm good if the veterans - Kosh/Gonch/Starseva - no longer play any matches except 1 match , against Brazil. I want Brazil A and Russia A teams clash as that is always a classic.. On second thought, fielding the strongest lineup against USA can prove to be a good choice as they will be similar pools in OG.

  • Lazarenko should've been here.

I think Malygina has potential despite her advanced rookie age as a middle blocker but to be included in VNL during the olympic year is just like a plot twist that had literally no foreshadowing.

  • about this week

-Federotseva and Smirnova were good and I think they will grow through the tournament.

-Zaytesva was not bad neither excelent in my opion, she even performed better in the first Two matches than pilipenko, I saw her a little bit nervous and I hope she cand do better.

    - Pilipenko: during the last season she was not consistent in Uralochka and she is not doing it well neither at this tournament, she is not showing what she has done in NT. Galkina was good last season and she should have been called again.

-Lazareva was given today the chance to play. And for me she did her job, she is a faster setter than Mateeva and has way better defense than her. Mateeva is so slow in my opinon predictable game, an nothing espectacular, only height(1.92)

-Kapustina, i hope he can do better in the other weeks, at least in her attacks , i think she is not ready for NT. Her reception is not that stable, from all the OH she has the worst floor defense...

I hope to see Lazareva as the second opposite playing along with federotseva, the future russian hitters. Smirnova can join them playing as OH she already done that.

And of course malova which is a beast in defense and by far the best libero Russia has ever had.

Also im waiting for those slide MB Kotikova and efimova to replace brovkina and malygina
