Japan - V.League V1 (Division 1, Women) 2021-2022

  • Damn, that was a good floor touch call by JT's coaches

  • I don't think we know the status of Yuki's retirement plans for sure. Last I understood it, she did/is retired from NT, and that she played this club year so she could say goodbye to all the fans who love her in person ... instead of a pandemic zoom conference goodbye if she'd done it last year

But she was never in serious decline. Voted "Best Painted Toenails" last three years in a row

I can't remember exactly, but was there a news article that came out before/after Empress Cup where she said she won't be retiring anytime soon yet?

    What a grand award :rolll:

  • Oh :!: It just dawned on me that Himeji , up 2-0 in sets is already now safe from relegation. brahmin explained this earlier

Still gonna keep watching . This is likely Celeste  Plak's last match in Japan?

Himeji is safe :obey: Any updates on Tanaka Saki's condition?

  • Himeji is safe :obey: Any updates on Tanaka Saki's condition?

She's there, dressed and rostered. No idea what kind of boo-boo she had. Probably just playing it safe

  • Nakagawa is just too mediocre for her height 🥲🥲🥲

She's an enigma. Great numbers, but she is invisible to me. I am liking her upgraded serve, tho

  • I wonder what the stew is going to taste like , win or lose , waiting a week to play the Final Final match :S

Gunma took set 3 from Himeji. Plak probably just wanted to play a little more :)

  • I went to bathe and came back to Hisamitsu claiming Set 3 :sos:

Never take your eye off the ball if you want to win :teach:

    :rolll:

  • Annie getting blocked numerous times now :white: Hisamitsu's just easily feeding Foluke atm, is Foluke the key to the entire team?

Interesting to see that JT kept Hayashi in and subbed Tanaka out for Nishikawa instead :/ I wish I was better versed in volleyball tactics and nuances so I can really analyse the plays :S

  • Every time Hisamitsu's hitters can't get it in, they just feed it to Foluke

  • Well , SAGA ... :)

Gunma and Himeji are going to a Tie Break. I thought SAGA JT would too, but alas ...

  • Every time Hisamitsu's hitters can't get it in, they just feed it to Foluke

Foluke took 29 swings. Annie took 68 8)

Foluke had 5 blocks. Word on the street was that if she had 3 or more blocks SAGA would win :teach:

  • I really like Gunma's local "ace" Runa Tanaka. Google 'spunky' and there will be a picture of her :rose:

  • JT made mistakes in the last few points, especially when Hisamitsu had point advantages. One more week to the 2nd match, and it's going to be a boiling hot pot!

As a viewer, today's match was half fun, half a little bore when the hits started to lose variety and the points didn't have any fun rallies. I also can't help but feel like there's something strange and off in the match (strange not in the sense that there were match fixings or cheatings or etc), although I can't exactly say what :/

Curious to see the stats when it comes out! That's a lot of swings for Annie, I hope she's not too tired from it ?(

Hisamitsu's key today was definitely Foluke, she was on fire :box: Inoue got some good blocks on Annie too, which must be a super plus for her!

I don't know, Inoue Arisa is often portrayed as an "ace player", but I can't see anything that's really very unique of her, though that's probably cause of my untrained eye. It's never that fun to watch her play even though she gets the points :/
