Regular Round begins October 30, 2021 (Saturday) and ends February 27, 2022 (Sunday). Matches are played every Saturday and Sunday (Winter Break: December 6, 2021 to January 7, 2022). It's a Fake Double Round Robin of 10 teams playing each other two times. Eighteen matches per team for a total of 90 matches. The top 4 teams advance to the Final Stage.

Advantage points are given to teams advancing to the Final Stage based on the ranking of the Regular Round as follows

• 1st place / 3 points, 2nd place / 2 points, 3rd place / 1 point, 4th place / 0 points

Ranking decided by:

• Wins ->Points ->Set Percentage ->Scoring Rate

Final Stage begins March 12, 2022 (Saturday) and ends March 27, 2022 (Saturday) with the weekend of March 19-20 off. It's a Single Round Robin contested by the 4 highest ranking teams from the Regular Round. The top 2 teams advance to the V.Challenge Match

V2 Captains 2021-2022

New team to V.League V2 this year is Ligare Sendai (Miyagi Prefecture). They could be Champions with their defense and some reverse YOLO.

They formed in 2018 from the remnants of Sendai Belle Fille with the help of the Miyagi Prefectural Volleyball Association. A firestorm dude who Coached NEC Red Rockets for 20 years was "Some Title in Charge". An ex-Toyota Body Queens player was head coach. They both left after the first year, followed by the few remaining Sendai Belle Fille players.

Pictures of Arisa Sato in a dress and high heels representing the team here and there suggest she may be guiding the boat now, or wants to. She was player-coach 2019–20. The team applied for an S3 license to enter V.League 2020–21 season and were denied.

Chairman of the Miyagi Prefectural Volleyball Association who could no way spike a volleyball became nominal Head Coach for 2020–21, probably to check that box on the license application for 2021–22. He's "Some Other Title in Charge" now and Arisa is "Supervise" once again.

I've seen a handful of matches from the past few years. Meh. Then they were absolutely Epic at Summer League this year. Improvement is good. They played a core 7, 6 of whom have been on the team since the beginning but have only now become a machine. Their court chemistry, and hence defense, is outstanding.

2019 V2 Best Scorer Award winner from Prestige International Aranmare Yuki Egawa joined Sendai the beginning of this year. This is where the Reverse YOLO part comes in. Yuki is template southpaw OP, 171cm beastly with a jump serve, but she lined up and rotated out as MB in Sendai's Summer League lineup. Defense isn't her thing. Sendai is MB-challenged. It all makes for cool volleyball. Yuki was quite reserved in the Summer matches, hitting from 2, 3&4 depending on rotation, compared to her Prestige days. She's not going to dominate Sendai the way she did Prestige. Sendai's other hitters are too good.

MB Nao Ohnuki had been their Captain the past couple years but the team recently announced she is out with injury. V.League's Sendai page has #4, Shion Ozawa, listed as Captain. Obvious choice. No bob or bangs on her any more. Drastic pullback, gym rat style Dasein.

For my money, their best all-around player is receiving OP #8 Yui Takano, right-handed right sider. The team's improvised YOLO-esque use of Template OP Yuki Egawa suggests Yui's not going anywhere. Good move.

Their starting lineup is: Mayu, Yu, Yui, Yuna, Yuki, Shion & Arisa. They should win the Title just for that

Let's root for these girls, who are all mostly a couple years out of good college clubs and ready to rumble.

Setter:

#9 Yuna Kato - She's all right. Pretty cute and plays defense

Middle Blocker:

#11 Mayu Suenaga - Tallest player on the team at 175cm

Pins:

#4 Shion Ozawa (C) - Tough cookie, likes defense

#8 Yui Takano - Best all around player, 162cm

#10 Yu Watanabe - Serves and swings the hardest. She's the scary (wildest) one

#12 Yuki Egawa - Game Changer, moonlights as MB

Libero:

#5 Arisa Sato - Best passing libero in Japan and loves Block Coverage She's not as fast as she used to be and/but she's the team's only libero

Reserve OH:

#6 Manami Seiwa - She's the one Yuki Egawa bumped. Solid player for subbing Yuki in the back row

Injured MB:

#7 Nao Ohnuki - She used to be Captain and the early iterations of the team were more MB focused and not as cool

Too bad V.League uses Sendai's horizontal logo. Under most circumstances it is hard to read and doesn't stand out

Brilliant Aries has a new Head Coach. Third one in three years. Seems a little shaky at the last moment but they were advertising a search over the summer

Ken Inoue, Executive Director of the team, has been appointed as head coach for the V League 2021-22 season. In addition, two new coaches have been decided to join
