Japan - V.League V2 (Division 2, Women) 2021-2022

  • And what a bummer. The Gifu match this weekend was going to be on VTV against Ligare Sendai. I love that team and it was going to be one of the few opportunities to see them play. I bet they don't reschedule any of these V2 matches. They will just switch to Win % and call it a day

  • Five out of eight matches scheduled for this weekend, which was the originally scheduled last weekend of Round play, have been canceled

By extending the Regular Round by one week, in order to get caught up they have one week to play 31 matches :rolll:

  • MESS

  • The loss of Yurika Mizoguchi was a blow to Prestige International. Here's some really good news:

(有薗未也美) Miyami Arizono (not sure of the translation) a libero from Nagasaki International University has joined the club.

Nagasaki was THE biggest highlight of the recent Collegiate Championships. A super scrappy-ass team, out of nowhere, they beat reigning champions NIFS (Saki Nakajima's team) in the QFs but lost to NSSU in the SFs

Miyami was a big part of it. She floats and glides around the floor. It's beautiful. And she has Big Guts Play :)

I'm disappointed she wasn't on more radars, disappointed she isn't part of the Universiade selection, and etc., but Nagasaki isn't a big name vb school so ... whatever

All Prestige has left to do is play the Final 4 Round Robin, and if successful play the Challenge Match. I think they are a better team than Gunma Bank. Miyami is announced as joining in April so she won't be part of the Final 4 but maybe the Challenge Match, if Prestige makes it

  • Re:

    MESS

Due to the corona wreck, 32 games were canceled (of which 2 games were replayed). Regarding canceled games:

    • The team that offered to cancel or postpone a match due to any circumstances will go on the books as a 0–3 loss with a set count of [0-25, 0-25, 0-25]
    • A game that is canceled due to unavailability of the venue is treated as an unavoidable force, and it is not possible to win or lose
    • As a result, the number of games played by each team will vary, so the method of determining the ranking is to "rank the team with the highest winning percentage"

The final ranking of the V. Regular Round for V2 Women is thus:

    RankTeamWin RateMatches PlayedWinsLossesSet Rate
    1Gunma Bank Green Wings
    0.941171614.545

    10Forest Leaves Kumamoto0.111182160.292

The top four teams will play a Round Robin to determine Final Ranking. The top two finishers of that will qualify to play the Challenge Match (against the bottom two teams of V1)

The Gunma Bank/Prestige match last night was kick-ass :box:

This "Final 4" is a Round Robin. Top two teams qualify for the Challenge Match and a shot at V1. The final set of matches is in two weeks :what:

I can't do math but I think "Advantage Points" are going to save Gunma Bank, even if they lose to Brilliant Aries in the Final Round. Too bad. Prestige is a better team and would have a better shot at beating Kurobe than Gunma Bank would

I'm pretty sure Brilliant Aries is safe no matter what happens in two weeks. Deservedly so

  • Gunma 3 reg. Season points + 3 + 1 = 7

    Route Inn Brilliant Aries 2 + 3 + 3 = 8

    Prestige 1 + 0 + 2 = 3

    GSS 0 + 0 + 0 = 0

Gunma and Prestige are in, just which spot.

I think you mean Gunma and Brilliant Aries but ...

I think they are still doing the Final Stage based on Wins, then Points. So if Brilliant Aries and Prestige win the last Round :

    SUN 27 Mar 2022

    Brilliant Aries v Gunma

    Prestige v GSS Tokyo

That gives Prestige 2 wins and Gunma only 1 win ... and justice would be served, right?

  • Route Inn Are the Brilliant Aries

if the Gunma-Route Inn goes 5, with a Gunma win, Route Inn will have the sets ratio tie breaker as they will be tied on wins and points. So they would be the champs.

If Gunma wins in 3 or 4, Gunma is champs.

Route Inn takes championship with win.

Route Inn takes championship with win.

I was asking to confirm the fact that if they are ranking by WINS then if Gunma loses to Brilliant Aries and Prestige beats GSS then Prestige will be (2-1) 2nd place and Gunma (1-2) goes home

  • I was asking to confirm the fact that if they are ranking by WINS then if Gunma loses to Brilliant Aries and Prestige beats GSS then Prestige will be (2-1) 2nd place and Gunma (1-2) goes home

You are correct. At some point, they should just get rid of points, in the final round, wins only matter.

IF GSS win, Gunma would advance even on points without even playing.

  • Oh no :!:

Prestige International: Report on positive judgment for new coronavirus infection (March 25)

    Quote

... at Aran Mare Yamagata, several athletes and staff members have been positively tested for the new coronavirus infection.

In addition, we have performed isolation treatment for the relevant person and are currently improving.

Due to the above situation, players and staff other than those mentioned above will participate in the 2021-22 V.LEAGUE DIVISION2 WOMEN Final Stage Ueda Tournament, which is scheduled to participate on Sunday, March 27

I guess it's good news that they don't have to forfeit the final match tomorrow night, but depending on which player or players the positive test is about it could be a game changer in a bad way for the team. Simply tragic

At full speed it's very likely Prestige would beat GSS Tokyo tomorrow. It's maybe a toss up between Brilliant Aries and Gunma Bank, but if Brilliant Aries wins (my money is on that) and Prestige wins, it's Brilliant Aries and Prestige heading to the Challenge match

If Prestige loses against GSS Tokyo tomorrow it doesn't matter what happens in the other match. Prestige goes home
