2024 Paris Olympic Games

  • What a match and tiebreak  thankfully today I was a neutral spectator!

Now all we need tomorrow is a Dominican win over Turkiye for full chaos :cheesy:

I totally see that happening btw, Dominicans are one of those teams you do not want to be out of form against even though they don't always overperform, their ceiling is very high and Turkey is kind of messy now.

That's bold! I dont think it could happen. Turkiye already released all the nerves and tensions from the Olympic debut. No possible way all their players (except Vargas) show such a discret level at the same time as they did against NED in the first two sets (with all the respect to them).

I think this depends on which face DOM will show tomorrow.

  • SRB should be wary of how they start their game. That two sets were horrendous AND definitely should not do the double sub lol.

On a positive for USA, love that they are now starting with the offensive duo of Skinner and Plummer BUT their reception will be scrutinized by other teams.

Pool A is so fun. CHN vs USA and SRB vs USA is the best games so far. High Quality until the very last minute.

Also, the guy earlier let loose of his mask lol.

  • It wasn't moment at all to sub Uzelac first of all, we needed that pipe, then Maja screwed up with that moon ball for Boskovic in 1 while all of them was blocked before and then instead to sub back Uzelac or to change only Maja, NO, Guidetti decide to go with double sub. Unfortunatelly against your own coach you can't play and it will be the same story in every tie match, i'm almost sure.

Anyway at least we played that 3rd and 4th set like we did so we aren't that hopeless, because after that second set i was near to cancel all my hopes. :rose::heart:

    *Lazovic starter!!!!!!!

    Congrats USA!

  • If Karch wants to stick to Plummer-Avery has to be ready to make adjustments on time. In the first 2 sets, even tho the reception was bad, they made it work by scoring OOS balls. As the match progressed both of them, but especially Plummer couldn’t score, and was a liability in passing. Kelsey needs to come on earlier and not just as a back row sub

  • What was Gio thinking when he made that double sub? Lol. Tica can kill the ball in the backrow with higher efficiency than Lozo killing it in the front row. Lol.

Another thing is why Maja set it to Uzelac when you have Tica in front? Lol. Do a Bosko ball in crucial parts and I won’t complaint.

  • The Milenkovic sub was what got USA back in the 3rd set despite the enormous lead we had it still got tense in the end. And yet Guideti still decided to put Milenovic in the 5th set and now in the first rotation Uzelaac was back row. The most painful part of it is that it's not like she gave any indication of cracking under pressure in reception or serve. Actually her float was a huge weapon and something that worked better than the serves Milenkovic had.

And finally, the double sub which ultimately sealed the victory for USA. It's absolutely useless if the other attacker at the net is Lazvic and you have awful reception despite subbing in Milenkovic to "boost" it so you can't use the middle. As I said before, and I'll keep saying it - pipe attack from Uzelac and Lozo is more valuable for our offense than the 3-meter reception you have with Milenkovic since Maja is gonna be setting the ball to Boskovic 9/10 time if it's the end of the sets.

Staff errors aside, I'm proud of the girls for fighting through the awful stretch and nerves. It's gonna be even harder against China but I believe this loss is gonna be a great motivation for that game.

  • IMO it's not mistake to set Uzelac even on match point and while you have Bosko in front row, but you have to do that precisely 😂

if it’s a perfect set yes. Otherwise no. But if Boskovic is back row I’d rather her set uzelac front row

Yeah I don't think it will happen, but it would make group C even more of a mess :rolll: anyway I'm looking forward to Brayelin - Vargas battle at the net

If Italy starts the match like they did the first, NL might put some pressure on them as well. Just like vs Turkiye I expect a loss but who knows, if we can get to our top level and Italy starts messy we could surprise and go tiebreak again (only to lose 0-3 to DR lol)

  • There’s no doubt that Guidetti is a great coach in many ways but man I have no clue what he was doing with Milenkovic and the double subs and this is a pattern we see all the time with him. He wants to shake things up and make brave decisions but he ends up upsetting the balance of the team and ruining things.

Serbia was just horrible in sets 1 and 2, I couldn’t say that any player looked good. But then they really woke up and I thought all the main players looked good in sets 3 and 4. If they can keep that level from S3-4 then they will be there when the medals are decided IMO.

The US will be medal contenders as usual and clearly this is a good result for them but I wasn’t that convinced. To me it looked like this match was more about Serbia than USA which isn’t a good look. Wong-Orantes was fantastic though.

  • Waiting for POL-KEN,

Will Rozanski get to play today?

Isn't this 13th player used only in case of any injuries? I see the roster right now and Różański is not in there :wavy:
