Ok, I am assuming TUR won.
God, what an awful first game for TUR BUT at least this might improve their nerves. The Pins of TUR are still very suspect and will be an imperative for other teams to attack on. Reception especially is a great concern. Vargas is good but has her limits too. The TUR MB was not as present as their best games AND would be crucial tbh.
NED sadly has to contend with their lack of experience. I think an experienced team would have washed TUR with all the chances their given. Their serves will be crucial moving ahead and I wish that this loss build them up rather than down.
Congrats to Turkiye! Seriously, they showed great resilience after being 0-2 down and also 3-4 points down in set 3 n 4. Gizem is my MVP and of course, then Vargas. She must have an statue built for her in Istanbul. Nevertheless, they would need more contribution from their OHs if they want to continue, because after set 3, all their OHs duos were
Santarelli or the staff shall seriously talk with both setters: those faces as if they were already packing back to Ankara...like no. I also hope this game helps Karakurt to humble down and notice that she can be fierce and competitive, but no need to provoke the rival. Cuz she was a shadow the first two sets and then, once she was calmed down, she helped a lot her team.
Pity for the NED, but come on, we all know their limits. Their vball-wise talent could improve in a future, but we all know they cant give more than what they did today. Their serving strategy was amazing, but then it fell down and with that, their hopes to do a major surprise.
We couldnt expect from Plak to dig in a decent way out of nowhere, when she has never been famous for that or Daalderop being solid in reception. I think Felix could have done more with the subs. It is what it is.
At the end, sure Turkiye can celebrate as much as they deserve now, fortunately for them, the next rival is DOM, which could let them a bit of space to compose themselves after they already released all. the nerves in these match. But sure, it would much better to win 3-0.
Video replay showed that Knollema touched the ball. And she didn't say anything. Is it possible that she could NOT sense it? Otherwise it is a shame for her to not accept.
To be honest, my ethics here is that its not hers to say until FIVB includes Video replay as a challengeable offense. Its the referee's problem not the players to call those out.

It is not so much a matter of expirience but of strategy. When the coach uses the wrong players this is what happens. Buijs and Dambrink should be starters.
Thank You I will keep this link for other games

I think so too...
In Italy it seems that all the athletes are competing to admit touches and for me it's stupid and has nothing to do with sportsmanship: as you well said, there are two referees and a video check system and the athletes' task is to play...

I think (from her performance here) Dambrink definitely could start. The blocking of Plak is definitely usurp by the fact that she is unable to perform in crucial moments. I am more on the fence for Buijs though. Again, not really an avid Euro Volley watcher - so most of my memory of Buijs is her being a target during the 2016 OGs lol (and I do not even remember it vividly lol). I think the roulette of OH this game was fine for NED.
I think the real "experience" problem NED had in the last set is that they were trying to outsmart the defense rather than spike it out. So much soft taps from overballs that could have been retooled into a spike. That lead will haunt them.
Stats?
Celeste just went through mixed zone and talked with Dutch TV, she was "carefully satisfied". Sure they were close but if they had mentioned beforehand to end 3-2 they would have been happy. She commended the team for fighting and credited Turkiye for being able to find another level after first two sets.
Overall vibe from the interview was slight disappointment with not taking the chance but still happy with getting so close and the 1 point, no tears!
Congratulations for both teams for big fight . It must be painfull for NED to loose after 2:0 leading. Suprise was so close, but TUR is a big team.

I think she said it eventually because there were thumbs up from Turkey’s side and the ref to the Dutch side
Watched just 5th, seemed like Kholema pissed her paints in crucial moment. Nika was not much better ether. Position 4 failed big time in 5th.
i think both teams should be happy with the result. NED was expected to loose 3-0 or 3-1 before the game, and TUR hast managed to win considering injuries and they played no friendly game to see how fit they are.

But if there is a player or even a team that insists on lying, this is an ethical problem. The real problem was Felix. He was angry and complained that we were complaining because the ball had touched Knollema. What a childish man...

Injury of whom? Only Zehra was missing in starting six

Hande and ilkin too was injured and they couldnt make it team training for a long time, even they werent expected to be on court today. I'm suprised that they can play and with their current shape i think Hande had couple of good plays in attack and was solid in defense. Turkey has big lack of players that in shape in OH position

Actually, he mainly complained because Turkiye challenge was asked after the proper time each team has for doing it. It was said by the international broadcaster. Nevertheless, he overdramatised and it was in the brink to get a card (it was also explained by the international broadcaster). He had a point to complain the challenge was called after, but, it was so obvious it was a touch.

I completely agree. It is referees job to see those and judge. I mean why should Knollema go and admit a mistake just because it was at a crucial point and the opponents were complaining? I am sure there were like 10 other net touches throughout the match, referees did not see and players did not admit, or many other errors. To me it feels silly that a player is expected to do this. The only exception to me is when there is no challenge option and referee asks the player directly, then I would hope the player to be honest but still it is not wrong if the player lies, since clearly everyone else lies a whole match, at least once.
Macris starting
I would've gone with Diana today, but it's an Olympic debut, so Thaisa probably wants to be on court.
