    With or without Plummer, USA has been struggling for years now. Has USA performed better with other players and won medals ?No. USA is the only team that has showed up at the Olympics without a core team that has been playing together for years. It's basically improvisation. And that's clearly a COACHING problem.

    My thoughts/predictions on the QFs:


    BRA X DOM

    This is the only match where one side winning over the other could legitimately be called an upset. As much as I like the chicas (they are my #2 team), they are just a tier below the other seven teams. DOM does have a few occasional flashes of greatness, but ultimately they are just too unbalanced as a unit to maintain that level for an entire match. While Brazil is in my opinion the most balanced team of the entire competition, and the stats (both team and individual) back me up on this. It's a quarter-final match, so anything can happen, but Brazil are definitely the favorites and I hope they play like it.


    ITA X SRB

    If we were just looking at the way both teams are playing, then Italy are heavy favorites. They look much, much better. However, they are a team that's been plagued with QF exits and it's hard to tell how the team will react if they are put under pressure. Serbia hasn't been playing well (and I personally just can't get behind a team where one player scores 39 points in 4 sets and none of the others even reach double digits), but they are the reigning world champions and you can never count out a team that has Boskovic.

    I think the key for Italy will be starting strong. If they show the level of play we've been seeing from them, then they should be able to take it. But if they let Serbia grab that first set, then I can see the team crumbling under the weight of past early eliminations.


    CHN X TUR

    2023 has shown us how dangerous Turkiye can be if they find their groove. However, they haven't found it this year yet. China started the year a bit shaky, but they're looking really good now. Diao is running the offense wonderfully, and though LYY is definitely the star, they also have a lot of other scary weapons in the MBs and Zhu (if she plays). As of now, Turkiye just has Vargas. The OHs and MBs need to show up as well if Turkiye wants to win this. They also need to serve strong to make Diao's job a bit harder, because China in system is very hard to stop.

    Based on what we've seen from both teams so far, I'd put China as decent favorites, but Turkiye can definitely win it too if they get their shit together.


    USA X POL

    This is the hardest match up to predict IMO. It could really go either way. Poland is playing better all around, and they won their past matches against the USA, but this is an Olympic QF match. None of the Polish girls have been there. The USA knows how to play the Olympics and many of the girls on the starting line up are gold medalists. Poland also looks very fragile when their OHs are put under pressure, and while Stysiak is a very good player, she can't carry them to victory on her own like the top 4 opposites can.

    If I had to place a bet, it would probably be on the USA, but I'd say it's like 51-49.

    no I wouldn’t lol. I’d be begging for her to get subbed out like I do when the Serbians are bad. Plummer hasn’t been better than our OHs and that’s just pathetic lol

    Semifinalists prediction:


    Serbia, Turkey, Dominicans, Poland


    Let's try some bold predictions lol, I know so far everyone goes with the opposite of this based on current forms and even AI does, but I wouldn't be surprised if I got 1-2 of these correct or more, the level this OG has been pretty similar between the teams, I don't think anyone is dominating the tournament, so dominating on the specific day will be enough, 1 match is doable.

    This match is great for now ! Turkey is performing way better than usual. But China is slaying !
