2022 Women's Volleyball Nations League

  • Much better crowd tonight. I think that Tuesday was probably just not going to be big draw, right after a major holiday.

They had done some local TV a couple of weeks ago to tell people that the VNL would be in town. Plus have people options of single game versus full weekend packages.

  • I don't get how so many people watch NCAA vb but the crowd is like 100 for national team events.

well, being university affiliated helps. Also helps people actually know about those games (with such affiliation)

USAV puts events in freaking Shreveport... which 1) isn't a volleyball hotbead (Lincoln is small... but has a lot of fans) 2) not easy to get to.... you can fly into Dallas... but you have to drive there

  • GER - POL will be a hard duel as before this competition, the loser will be far behind, only the winner can stay in contact to the qualification places...

even from New Orleans, the largest city in the state, it was still like 3 hours driving as well.

USAV got paid by the the Convention Visitor’s Bureau to bring it there. Plus with the Olympic win, and hosted in the same city, it was not a hard sell to make it go there. However, in the future, big cities, bigger arenas.

the quirky thing about the states is that you do have a number of 10,000+ seat arenas in smaller college towns. I mean VNL in Honolulu would be full for either sex, but you’d better do that on the way to Asia or the last week of the three because to fly to Europe is a nightmare from there.

  • For the match vs USA maybe Carol will partner with Mayany for MB?

    Macris

    Mayany, Carol

    Julia B, Ana C

    Kisy

    Natinha?

Six wins will probably get you into the top 8. Turkey should finish in the top 8, in my mind, so if you win half your matches you should have a shot. Germany right now with the extra match played compared to others around them, need to finish at 2-2 for this week to keep them in the running for the Finals.

those 5 set losses are helpful, but losing a 2-0 lead, and losing against Japan could keep them out. 7 teams, already with 2 wins, and outside of Italy all have at least +4 sets won, while Germany is at 0. Italy only being +2 would possibly fall behind Germany with Italy loss and Germany 3-0, 3-1 win on points or sets ratio.

  • Suprisingly or maybe not, but Ajcharaporn is the weakest link in Thailand. She is nor effective in attack as she used to be nor stable on reception.

Playing, in club season, as full time opposite effect probably.
