2022 Women's Volleyball Nations League

  • Honestly this simplified ''continental'' grouping makes me slightly uncomfortable at this point. As if everything is that simple... I mean these are international tournaments anyway, leave continental talk in the continental tournaments lol.

    It's cringe tbh.

it started with the allocation system for olympic spots and everyone's complaints about not enough CEV teams at the olympics.

It is not simplified it is just true. I mean i don't give a f**k about continental grouping, but someone's pattern is obvious, i'm not the right person to address this comment for.

I don't refer that is racistic or something like that, but that "hate" (more some disliking, accompanied by bad jokes that have become strenuous) is clearly towards just european teams, it is irritated with their legacy in this sport or some other issue i don't know, maybe it is just funny to them, i'm not bothered at all, but it is still obvious and true.

  • Meanwhile, I like this six of Turkey. With Meryem, Turkey can play way faster and it makes life easier for Hande and Tugba.

the problem here is, Meryem is not that reliable. And Ebrar isn’t either. Putting all the blame on Ebrar wouldn’t be correct, however high balls sets and her slow motion defense skills seem to spoil the game. Neither Meryem nor Ebrar can fill up to the expectation of OPP Turkey desperately needs/lacks right now. I am not sure what our game plan but it and Ebrar’s style doesn’t work together.

Problem is, Giovanni insists on this system but he picks wrong players for his system. Other option would be to modify the system based on players, but he does not go for that either. Ebrar in this system is a complete mismatch.

I know most are hyped with Vargas joining the NT but in my opinion Alexia will fit way better to this system if Giovanni is planning to use it for the next 2-3 years.

Sorry for the off topic but is it possible to keep both Alexia and Vargas in the roster or it is not allowed too?

I was one of them but my complaint was not "why CEV teams are not getting more spots in the olympics", it was more of a "why do we need to watch really terrible teams in the olympics?". With that, I wrote it multiple times that the best solution is to have at least 1 representative from each continent but then the rest should be picked among the best teams in the world, no filling spots to increase representation from each continent and reduce the quality of the event. With that, every country, if they are good enough, compete against each other and best ones join the olympics. Not sure how this is a bad thing and claiming more CEV teams should be there.

No, they are not allowed to have more than 1 player who played in senior level which both Vargas and Alexia did I think. So only one of them can join. I also have a feeling that Alexia will have better chemistry with girls, I think she speaks some Turkish too. Vargas is more silent and is there just to deliver.

  • LoL, he just have tendentions to hate top European teams, it's not anyone's fault. The guy is hating serbian team and players for a while, but it was popular narative on the forum so it passed unnoticeable.

it does get annoying lol. As a Serbian fan for sure and I can definitely see why fans of other European teams would be bothered by the constant jokes and jabs. However, it’s definitely not like a racist thing though lol. I think he’s just joking and trolling but just too much

You mean he is obsessed and secretly in love with Europe? Awww <3

I'm not about to dig up 3 year old threads, but (a) I agree the best in the world should be there, subject to one rep from each continent (b) people (not necessarily you, I don't remember exactly who said what) were complaining about Korea's "free ticket" as if they didn't beat Brazil 3-1 at the world cup and almost beat Russia (c) comments by CEV players such as these don't help and (d) CEV's record at the olympics at least on the women's side did not justify (b) or (c).
