USA Women's NT 2022

  • it was fine during the VNL. She hit better than someone like Gabi for example.

They're overusing her on OOS attacks. I dont know why they're not sending more to JT or annie

Maybe they’re trying to save that for WChs? Then again, USA has always stuck with their strats for a given year. Expect more OOS balls to OH1

  • Imagine if the friendlies between USA and Turkiye had this much preparation.

you think USAV cares that much? Lol

they don’t. Everyone blames “American fans” but it’s 100% the fault of USAV.

ncaa has 10 teams that average over 3,000 per match. 4 of them over 5,000.

usav doesn’t care about making the NT a household name. It doesn’t make them money

I blame an american college system that puts an inordinate amount of emphasis on its sports programs.

  • why?

the ncaa system has elevated olympic sports in the country.

the federation has failed to capitalize on it.

I think he was deploying sarcasm or twisted irony?

I admit that I didn't consider this viewpoint... but is there a sport that actually got elevated at the professional level due to NCAA?

  • I admit that I didn't consider this viewpoint... but is there a sport that actually got elevated at the professional level due to NCAA?

    in terms of what?

In terms of a national team being good/bad? Absolutely

In terms of popularity? I wouldn't say entirely directly, but women's sports are always at a disadvantage. The NCAA has definitely heightened the interest in/profile of women's sports in the USA. They've leveraged their brand power.

USAV, meanwhile, sits and figures out who they can exploit to make money.

  • In terms of a national team being profitable and marketed well towards the fans, which was the original issue.

I feel like the big money sports in the US is mostly nba/nfl/mlb (professional leagues that have little to do with the Olympics) and college sports because of tribal attachment to the college one graduated from.

USAV should try exploiting VT for money, lol

  • American football was more popular in colleges first before the professional level. Now I would say the other way, not to say that college isn’t popular, but we all seem to know, the SECis the best league bar one or two teams. Great to watch Oregon blown out 49-3 in the first game by Georgia. SEC is by far the best conference and it isn’t even close.

well part of the problem is Usav doesn’t do anything to try to use that to their advantage.

They’ve hosted events in Lincoln which got good turnouts…. But then moved to Shreveport and California for their events. California has very little NCAA support for their teams. That’s not growing the game.

meanwhile there’s ton of interest in the Midwest…. (And that’s where a good portion of the players are from) and nothing. USAV doesn’t want to explore these markets. Minneapolis, Madison/Milwaukee, maybe even Chicago would have great support for womens volleyball and they have international communities to support other teams

  • Seems like the girls are at the tail end of their well-deserved mini-break. When are they expected to leave for Poland and do they bring the reserves with them like how Tyler Mitchem is with USA rn?

  • If Kara can get her passing down…. She’s the real deal

it’s incredible how much better some of these OHs (Kara and Frantti) look in the USA system than in their clubs

Is Karch gonna ride or die with Krob? I imagine if she can’t terminate the ball as OH 1 and USA is stuck, does Karch pull her out for Kara?
