USA Women's NT 2022

  • Also, contract was probably was up for renewal after 2020 Olympics. Adidas was probably not wanting to up the payment even though the results by the women's team was very good.

Asics and Mizuno know that the sport is important to them, whereas Basketball, Football (soccer and american) are more important to the business. Still will have some athletes under contract, but kind of sad.

I can't find a source that says otherwise... but I heard USAV terminated the contract, rather than not renewed.

Also probably doesn't help the main face of the adidas campaigns (Carlini) didnt even make the OG roster... I think Rachael Adams is an adidas athlete too

  • A small recap

Multiple shades to russia in the first ten minutes lol

The Italians made you speak italian... didnt even bother with russian... with THY, they all speak English

Contract boosts if you're in the national team, talks about agents and stuff. (and about going pro)

She does not want to coach after volleyball... has no patience for it (lol)

Talks about growing up playing volleyball, etc. Talks about Wisconsin (Pete, Sheffield, everyone she played with, etc) (this is a really long segment, not going to recap it here lol)

Moves onto USAV. its hard to get into the NT.... everything is faster, more physical... trying to find where you fit in.

she felt confident in 2020, despite covid and her season in moscow. they had someone come in during that time to help with mental stuff, team building, etc.

felt good coming into 2021... but felt the setter competition was tight. Trained for a couple weeks... didn't feel great. Did not feel great at all during VNL. Found out about the OG during the VNL bubble... was one of the hardest times of her life... dealing and processing with it all during the bubble was really hard and then having to continue to train with them before they were going to the olympics... a lot of "character building"

you could decide in person or via email.... she didnt have a good feeling about it. they knew after week 2. she opted for the email, thats the way she knew it would be handled best. it was harder for her to see her family upset, because she knew she was in control and she had let them down with all of their sacrifices, etc. it was a heavy burden.

there was an hour of "blackout" where everyone could process the roster. you could reach out to who you needed to.

she gave everything she possibly could... everyone knows how passionate she is... she has no regrets, she left everything out there. says the great part is she gets to continue, gets to keep giving 1000%. doesnt want to have any regrets after her career.

Aim is for 2024... took some time to regroup herself. Doesnt want her story to end this way. Going to do everything she can to achieve that.

if she doesnt make the 2024 roster, its going to be okay... her career hasnt been wasted. she has done incredible things, and will continue to... after 2024... she'll see.

"you can see it as a failure... or an opportunity to grow, it's just another fork in the road"

  • Loved the way she said it was part of 'character building'. And despite the unfortunate she experienced, and how she is left behind.. she is still trying to be positive and that's so precious. Really admire how confident and positive she is! hope she can make it to Paris 2024!🖤
