China NT 2022

  • when did zhu injure her wrist, was it during vnl? which hand was it left or right?

Her wrist injury (right hand) was something she has been dealing with for quite some time actually, but was never treated with the utmost care. She looked fine at VNL before the Olympics, albeit her wrist was still bandaged. I assume the injury got aggravated sometime after the tournament as they were preparing for Tokyo.

I do hope Zhu gets the best treatment available for her wrist and that she won't feel pressure to return as soon as possible. If she doesn't recover in time for WCH 2022 then that's alright, her recovery is most important to the longevity of her career especially now since she has aspirations for LA 2028. The NT is going to have to learn how to play without her sometime or later.

  • Lots of surgery this year. Zhang Changning just finished. Zhu Ting will have one too. Wang Mengjie also had one, but it's not sports related... :P

  • Monolids are beautiful!

Don't let western media and society make you think otherwise.

I would be surprised if the constant online harassment she got was not a contributing factor tbh. Also she's not playing much in the league. Hope she's ok

  • Is it really considered on All Stars match if you don't include the four foreigners in your league, two of which were Olympic MVPs?

I remember the last season KYK played in China she was part of the All Stars match...

  • It's pretty clear the Red Team has the advantage.

Good to see Wang Yifan getting recognition. She's only 16, but already showing more all around skills than Wu Mengjie and Zhuang Yushan. Her mature mindset and hard work ethic is showing and she will be a great addition to the NT in the future.

Chen Peiyan is also growing and not making as much errors as before. She should an option at OPP at VNL next year rather than forcing Liu Yanhan.

I noticed Cai Yaqian was on the list as opposed to Mei Xiaohan. Either that means Mei is injured or Cai beat her at the starting setter spot for Shandong.

With the scheduling conflict with WCH the NT will have to find a suitable B Team that can defend their title at the Asian Games.
