Turkey NT 2022

    She was not impressive against mid level teams in Sultanlar League. She is just playing with gas (I don't know if it is right word). Therefore her behavour is so childish. Guidetti is known who doesn't like to work with problematic players, I feel that Tugba's story will not be long for Turkish national team.

    Everyone mentions her contribution for the comeback against FB but she played many matches coming from the bench and she didn't help at all. I think it was one of those once in a decade performances every player has (another example Meryem Boz against Poland during Olympic qualifications)

    I agree 100%. Sometimes we get to see something like this happening. I have a few examples that come to my mind.

    Why not? She didn't show anything special against Korea. With her miserable reception and defense, she can't contribute anyways. She should consider switching to Opp

    Derya's performance was quite nice against Korea. Korea is the weakest team but her attacking approach is better than Meliha, Saliha and Tuğba. IMO Tuğba had to play at Mediterranean Games and we need to watch more Derya in Canada.

    Derya won't be in Gio's team simply with those reception skills, she was lucky it was Korea. I remember Ilkin overperforming last year during VNL too with an adrenaline rush and I thought she should be part of OG roster but then she was so bad all league. Once Derya moves from VB and plays as regular I'm sure she can take someone's spot from the list, like Meliha who is not a young player anymore and replaceable with 3 kinda balanced OHs. I want Derya too but I hoped she'd stay as 2nd Opp/5th OH instead... Instead of Meryem.

    I don't understand these criticisms directed at derya, ok she played well against weak korea. but what about tugba? it failed against Brazil, Germany and Korea. Meliha was bad in every game.


    Even tugba left the gym without talking to anyone and didn't want to take pictures, as well as beyza too. Another player who played terribly poorly against Korea.


    derya will not be opposite, give up on that idea. Derya is VISILY the most attacking wing-spiker in the Turkish team. I was at the gym in Brazil watching and it's visible how she has more strength.


    in my opinion meliha should be out. The wing-spiker should be derya, hande, saliha and tugba or ilkin.

    i would like to see buket more than buse unal and i would also like to see sude demiral in place of yasemin yildirim.

    tugba and hande had to cover for derya on reception, and serving hande is always a good enough strategy in itself. subbing meliha in for derya for serve receive reduced the burden for hande and she attacked better. their overall transition game also improved. i’d say meliha still has a role to play in 2022, but someone new has to step up quickly. tugba really hasn’t convinced me, hande is shaky and inconsistent, and it could be just me but i am tired of the saliha experiment, both in ecza and on NT level. there should still be plenty of room for derya to grow and improve though, she is young and no one attacks better than her from 4.

    really? we have Ebrar Vargas and Alexia but you still think she should be opp? Every time I see your comment about Derya, you say something like that she should change her position to OPP, but being an OPP does not any good for either the national team or Derya. If she becomes Opp, she will be mediocre and far behind Vargas Ebrar and Alexia, but if she continues to be OH and improves her reception a little bit, she can be a prominent name when her attack is this good.

    What do you mean when you say "special"? she scored 14 point with %46 attacking ratio and %83 reception effecieny lol Guidetti should have tried her more on other games.


    Saliha's defense is not better than Derya Tugba and ilkin. And her attacking is quite bad, especially on oos balls. I would not call her balanced OH. I think she could be cut but I am ok with Saliha. At least she affected one game.


    I think tugba showed worse performance among these four OH and she should have cut. She played all four games of week 2 but in three of them, she got benched after set 1.:aww:

    There are still some time before Vargas and Alessia will be playing in NT but if Ebrar is injured tomorrow we don't have any options other than Meryem🤦 even after Vargas and Alessia are considered local, there are many clubs in Turkish league that needs an Opp who can play as starter, so it would be good for both her career and for NT

Not only her reception sucks badly but also any ball she touches at defense is a point for opponent. On the other hand Saliha is the one that has the best reception/defense skills after Meliha and Hande. In over all she is a more balanced outside


    I agree with you on Tuğba, she is a very limited player who was a good match once in a year😂 she could be useful maybe as a bench player but I don't remember any game that she played as starter and performed well

    There is only one tournament left for Vargas to join the team and we all know meryem wont be cut. Are you saying that she should prefer a NT career that she can only get a call for the national team when someone is injured?


    she's already at a level to play in mid-level teams as starting OH , maybe Galatasaray and THY too. she does not need to change her position to play as starter in midlevel teams.


    Derya's reception stats;

    Yeşilyurt 2019-20 %25 pos %15 perf -%1 eff total 515

    yeşilyurt 2020-21 %45 poz %28 perf % 16 eff total 728

    Vakıfbank 2021-22 %35 pos %23.4 perf %7 eff total 138,


    when she plays as full time starter as you can see her reception stats get better.


    for me when its comes to reception

    meliha, hande> İlkin> Saliha> Tugba> derya


    but Saliha's defense is suck. she is like a hole in the court. she really has no defensive skills lol

    Vargas will most likely play as outside, considering other options in NT, do you really think she could make the cut as outside? She won't be playing much in VakıfBank next season again.


    By the way, Derya's stats from this year is quite bad for an outside although she played against only weakest opponents. If she would have played as starter against stronger teams, it would have dropped even more

    i really think saliha deserves more chances in the selection, in the first week she was the most balanced wing-spiker. And that was the first time she had an opportunity to play.


    I think guidetti wants to observe how derya behaves playing all the time, in this case in the mediterranean games.


    I believe that tugba and meliha are the wing-spikers that are playing the worst.


    Let's also look at ilkin's performance in the mediterranean games.

    I don't think Derya should be here for now tbh, she is like the 10th spiker option in VB now with all the foreigners + Alexia and Egonu... Sad reality. Her form after last year will be a huge question mark to me, hope she gets loaned. But for now long term investing in Derya is a question mark. But as 5th OH or Opp would be nice because Meryem is really bad right now.


    At least Tugba will be going abroad and most likely play as a starter there. And Hande, Saliha and Meliha are players that will be rotated. Ilkin could be considered for 1 name as well I agree about that.

    Derya should change the club to play full time because she won't have a chance and will be the last option and let no one tell me that training in VB is better than playing whole matches.

    Tuğba is doing a very good thing by leaving the club and going abroad because at least he will be a starter and it will do her good.

    It's good that Saliha is coming back because she should get a lot more time on the pitch and 1 week was really good, Meliha is bad every game she plays.

    Ps. I'd like to see Zeynep Sude Demirel in the middle instead of Bahar Akbay 8o

    Derya would definitely be very useful for the national team, but she should think and go where she is going to play, in THY or Galatasaray, she could definitely be in the starting line-up

    Probably, Vakıfbank did not let Derya go. I guess the contract she signed with Vakıfbank when she was in their youth team expires next year. at the end of the next season she will be free and then I don't think she will stay.
