Netherlands NT 2022

  • It's the longlist of 29 players that will be reduced to a smaller roster later. No surprising names, except maybe Van der Mark who already announced she would return for the NT.

Gil Ferrer Cuttino returns as assistant coach, a role he had under Guidetti and Morrison before.

So painful to not see De Kruijf and Belien on the list;(

  • Guess the only surprise is H.Jasper not even getting a invitation? (I know injury affect her performance this season)

Hoping to see Van Aalen get more opportunities, and will be interest to see how Knollema perform in NT.

Oh wow yeah you're right.. didn't even notice she wasn't there. Agree about Van Aalen, especially since she's playing well in Potsdam

Yes they definitely lack of some experience on the middle. It will be great if either one of them are willing to play... But I understand their decision and hope for their best!

Baijens and Timmerman pair should be try more and consider Lohuis form is not that good recently, I can see them become the starting MB pair.

  • Do you think these 4 will be the OHs?

    Grothues, Buijs, M.Jasper, Daalderop

Or Knollema can already make it to the final roster?

  • Yeah knollema can make it,imo her direct competition is m.jasper

Both can put grothues out imo but they need mareth for receive so she's guaranteed

For WCH I think these four are almost locked, only Jasper's spot could go to someone else I think. Grothues can be the defensive specialist and Daalderop/Buijs duo is sufficient for attack. It would make sense to bring one more attacking OH (Knollema?), but Jasper is way more experienced obviously.

In the VNL we will see the other OH's for sure

  • I'm furious Hester Jasper didn't get an invitation:wall:Selinger clearly didn't watch the beginning of the season when she played great for Stuttgart before her injury! She could be really useful to the team with her defensive skills. Especially considering Grothues will retire from NT after this year, she should take her role upcoming years! Also Boonstra on the longlist is just ridiculous! She is such a bad player. Only there because of her height:down:

  • Fully agree Hester Jasper should be on the list, she can do the job of her sister better than her.

I think she was announced MVP in 4 or 5 matches at the beginning of the season, while having very strong teammates as well.

I hope she declined invitation for some reason because it really would have been a no-brainer to include her in this list.

  • If Van Aalen can keep the shape she currently shows in German playoffs, she can become very important for Dutch NT very soon. Dijkema won't be around forever, and IMO so far Bongaerts hasn't quite turned into the player everybody hoped her to become, so Van Aalen's development this season definitely is good news!

  • Selinger not investing in Brokking at the libero position:down:

I hoped Timmerman would have taken over number 3 or 5 as the new leading middle blocker:flower:

  • Yvon Belien appeared as a guest on a radio show this weekend. She explained a bit more why she decided to quit the national team. She wants to do other things next to volleyball and enjoy her summers more, but it was a very hard decision with the world championships coming this fall in NL. She will also use the time to focus on learning new things and studying. The new role she would have in the national team in the future is not a role she aspired to have so that wasn't a reason to stay either.

She enjoyed her time in Istanbul very much, and spent a lot of time exploring the city together with Sloetjes who lived there as well. Lonneke btw sent a lovely audio message to the show about their friendship and volleyball experiences. She also loves living in Florence and confirmed she will play in Scandicci next season, which is a step up compared to Firenze, she said.

What does this part mean exactly? She didn't want to be team captain or one of the main scorers of the team?

  • I think is more like she will get less playing time than before. Probably they want to develop Timmerman & Baijens for starter

Noo, i can't imagine she would be kept at the bench during WCH, she would be the best MB in the absence of Robin. Timmerman & Baijens could have played in VNL and show who is indeed best second MB for WCh
