Germany NT 2022

  • Potsdam posted an interview with Laura Emonts and she sounds like she really wants to play WCH. She skipped VNL because the invitation to NT came rather late and she had already booked a vacation, so after the hard club team season she decided not to cancel that and get enough rest.

Based on the VNL performance, I think Emonts if she can show her best shape could be ahead of Hippe and Vanjak in the race for the OH/Opp spots for WCH, maybe even ahead of Stigrot...

  • Louisa Lippmann will form a team with Laura Ludwig after the latter returns from maternity leave. They'll aim for Paris 2024 but it will be a tough road, probably they won't play any tournaments yet together this year.

I also see this as a very difficult mission. You have to see what kind of teams we already have and how many starting places there are. At the last Olympic Games there was a maximum of two starting places per nation, if I'm not mistaken. If you now look at the teams at this year's European Championships and only leave out Lippmann/Walkenhorst. Then you already have four teams with the following teams. fighting for the Olympics:

    • Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann (the rising star of this season)
    • Karla Borger and Julia Sude
    • Chantal Laboureur and Sarah Schulz
    • Sandra Ittlinger and Isabel Schneider

We already have four strong teams fighting for the Olympics and then another team should come in with Louisa Lippmann and Laura Ludwig, but they will have a big disadvantage compared to the other teams because they don't know each other that well yet.

In my opinion, the combination of Sandra Ittlinger and Louisa Lippmann might be interesting for 2028. Sandra can play both positions anyway and Louisa probably can too. In my opinion, that would be a promising combination.

  • Ivana Vanjak suffered a knee injury (no further info yet) and will miss WCH X/ That means Heynen will have to cut only one more player.

sportdeutschland.tv will broadcast the friendly match vs Brazil on Saturday, but it costs 3€ as pay per view :aww:

  • Judging from the stats of the GER-BRA matches I think it's safe to say the last player to be cut will be one of Schölzel/Hippe/Lohmann. Schölzel hasn't been convincing all throughout VNL and seems to have dropped to 4th MB in the ranking now. Hippe also has nothing to add when Drewniok is in good shape and Stigrot or Emonts can play as receiving OPP. I can also see Heynen taking Pogany as the only libero and dress 4th MB or 6th OH/OPP as libero in the matches, even if Lohmann will go to WCH it will most likely be as regular player to enter as reception sub and not as actual libero.

We're can I find the stats? I just saw the snippets on Instagram and was surprised that Strubbe got to play. In VNL she clearly was the 4th MB who barely got time on court..

What happens in the case of libero's injury? Can one of the outsides play as libero?
