Eurovolley 2023

  • when did Aleksić become a solid slide attacker? Good for her

Slide was her main way of attacking for years, she and Ćirovic was killing duo, but in Alba she switched to be more useful in front of the setter. I don't know, maybe i prefer a bit more tempo sets for Aleksic, but in general the best thing about Aleksic is that she is so well rounded player, besides attack and block as her main responsibilities as MB, she is very very good in defense and on second ball, the weakest skill is serve, but right know she is at least stable, not making a ton of errors.

  • Aleksic had more blocks than Mina and Jovana and playing only 1.5 sets. She should never be a back up player to Popovic. I take Aleksic any day over Popovic.

What even was the idea of having Popovic as starter? She hasn't been good for years. Gio is so random sometimes I swear.

  • Positive things about this match is a win obviously and that Maja even if she don't start well could be back on track in time. Boskoball and Maja - OH issues are kinda negative things and i will continue to promoting Drca as starter over Maja (obviously no hate). Although based on attack statistics it really was Boskoball, in reality the most positive thing was the serving pressure (excpet that horrible first set) resulting great contribution from our block/defense game which significantly ensure position for Boskovic to finish and score the point.

  • Well she was VERY bad in first set but I didn't want to point it out to keep the peace🥰

she was literally amazing in defense and reception. Maja ignored her in offense but Busa was a major contributor today

  • Maja kinda killed flow in 3rd and 4th set, but she was very precise at least and sets to OHs were better then before.

Uzelac had really good 2nd set, and she was solid passer, don’t get why she was subbed out for Lozo who went 0/5 in attack over 1.5 sets, but she had amazing serves though and I guess she is more stable due to her experience. Playing Uzelac in critical moments could be high risk high reward.

2nd set is the formula to watch and play in future for our team.. Maja’s distribution in that set especially. I guess it’s hard not to set Tijana when there is no formed block on her and she is just killing everything. I hope it won’t be our game for future, we showed we can win without forcing Tijana too much (2nd set as I said). Although 7 points/set for Tijana isn’t too bad, that’s basically how we play even with Drca. We can use Uzelac for sure, she only gets better with each game.

Poland’s game broke apart starting from passing, their plan revolves around positive/perfect pass and it’s difficult for them to kill OOS imo. Stenzel was amazing and Lukasik was solid overall while Rozanski failed complitely.

Witkowska should be starter for future defenitely.

Wolosz wasn’t good and I feel for Polish fans when they have to watch their coach stubborn enough not to put 2nd setter in. Poland’s game depends a lot to how good of a day they are having, they can win 3:0 anyone and lose 3:0 to anyone.
Good luck to Poland in the future

Uzelac did not kill few balls, i guess pressure got her. Lozo was maybe 0/5 but all 5 spikes was really strong and most of them returned to us for counter attack. Also you mention Lozo serve pressure, so we can say good game by Lozo.

  • Serbia got off to a rocky start but managed to adjust to Poland, which enjoyed some very good serving in the first set. Too bad they tend to have some pauses during the match, pauses that obviously prove costly, because they're really close to have a go for the trophy. Pity they had to renonuce Górecka and Czyrniańska, it would have given them so much more options, especially in moments when they incur in moments of sustained break.

For the Serbs, apart from the always deadly Bošković-Ognjenović pairing, good contribution from the OH unit (Buša struggled offensively but she was very helpful when it came to pass and defend, Uzelac had some nice swings and wasn't too bad in second row too) and great impact off the bench from Aleksić. Looks like Guidetti is finally coming to grips with the team.

I’m not saying she had bad game, all I’m saying is that Uzelac was performing solid in terms of passing (this might be her best game in that segment so far since she debuted for NT) and there was no particular need to put Lozo in for reception but for attack which she didn’t accomplish. Although as I said I kinda get it as Lozo is less likely to make mistake then Uzelac because of experience. Lozo is more stable but even now our game has higher potential with Uzelac in imo

  • she was literally amazing in defense and reception. Maja ignored her in offense but Busa was a major contributor today

She was good at defense indeed but at reception she wasn't amazing, she made quite a few mistakes. And her block is non existent. Maja is not setting any of the outsides when Boskovic is in front row.

Aleksic was obviously the highlight of the game besides the Boskoball.

Neither of the setters played like so called ''two best setters in the world''. Maja's Boskoball is boring as always but seems like it still works in 2023, congratulations to Serbia for their slot in finals basically with this win!👏

Wolosz should have played like Stysiak ball instead of forcing outsides who both looked like in a bad day. Not having that 'outside with hardest surname on Earth' hurt them a lot, fedusio is just not a good sub.

I hope Wolosz will play like this in quarterfinals too🙏😂

  • The maja haters have been real quiet. I still want Drca to start but I mean maja was great lol

  • as if turkey isn’t going to play Vargas ball the second they feel the threat of anything lol. Maja was amazing today after a shaky first start with bad passing

    2 legendary setters*

Wolosz didn’t have a great game obviously, but she wasn’t all that bad or the only reason why Poland lost.

Maja was spectacular. It isn’t about what’s interesting to watch but what wins games.

No no Wolosz was really bad and second reason why they lost besides their outsides being off. She is not setting to middles and as said before, middle attack was one of the reasons why they were so successful in VNL.

Maja sucked big time in the first set, then she improved her game second set, 3rd and 4th were just fine.

Uzelac was a bit lost, it's not just about attack and passing, so Guidetti choose to continue with Lozo because of her experience and that was great and reasonable call IMO.
