I think Italian fans are a bit overly critical with the team I understand the frustration about all the drama around the team, and their opponents so far really haven't been all too challenging, but still I think their game looks quite smooth and I'm curious how they'll perform in semifinal when they finally meet a serious opponent.

But that's exactly the point. Those opponents, with all due respect, shouldn't even pose a challenge to Italy and they have, even if a tiny bit. Italia was challenged by Croatia, Spain and France for a set, oponents that on paper shouldn't exceed the 15 point mark per set. But as you said, the real test will be the semis and possibly the finals.

Btw this eurovolley is maybe the most boring one. All favourites are winning without any problem. The tournemant will start tomorrow with Poland-Turkey game. Sorry but the rest was unnecessary.

the good thing I see from Italy today was the block that they are so good at that
Antropova block like a mb...also that danesi seem to be in better shape that in vnl

Smooth isn't an adjective I would use to describe our game, at least for what I've seen so far. But yeah, let's hope we've the best for the last rounds. I don't believe we're a case of in cauda venenum, but you never know.

obviously we saw two different matches...
I've seen a team with great individuals, but without a shred of play, win against an embarrassing team...
And above all I saw a coach who, in order not to let what has obviously become his nemesis play, is willing to lose a set and, perhaps, even a match...
I am not happy...
BTW, next round, finally the European will really start and we will see what happens…

Sorry but serbia lose a set to hungary and no one was making such a scandal...i remember russia lose to finlans at one eurovolley
To lose a set with those teams wouldn't be worrying if the team is showing a good display
Even poland and turkey lose sets with minor teams...

Don't mistake Mazzanti's luck with playing good volleyball.

Elena Pietrini showing that She is not lost case…
She has all aspects to be one of the best but She needs to work really hard… She can do it -

I wasn't refering only to today's match but to Italy's performance overall. Yes, they do struggle at times especially in reception, but IMO when they're in system they look really good. I particularly like Orro's game in this tournament, but of course she'll have to prove it against serious opponents. Italy might not be the favourite in their semi no matter who they eventually meet there, but IMO it wouldn't be out of this world for them to reach the final.

Poland hasnt been all too impressive either, though.

I could not follow all the matches of Poland in this tournament so still I presume we will face VNL version of Poland
-
It would be great if the Ech were back to 2 x 6 teams pools.

So no need of eurovolley then. Let's make a tournament for Serbia, Italy, Turkey and let's say Poland and Netherlands and they to play against each other how many times they want. Everyone of these countries can naturalize how many foreign players they want. There are talented for exemple young romanian or cuban -make us part of our team. We pay good. Who cares about their born country. In Bulgaria we say "Whoever pays the bill, he orders the music" And If CEV want can make another tournament like European league for countries that no one cares about like Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Greece and etc etc. but with minumum money spending because no one cares about these countries. Really some big and rich countries with big population doesn't understand how diffucult is for some countries to create a world class players with low investments. Maybe Serbia is some exclusion of the rule in terms of possibilities of rich countries but they have a lot of confidence gained from leading power in former Yugoslavia when the most talented players from other former Yugoslavia countries wanted to play for them. Of course problems of small volleyball powers are not problems of powerhouse but you should know that it's very difficlut in today's world.

Bulgaria is part of EU, you have lots of funds coming from EU, you can use it for developing volleyball further. If it is not prioritized then it is not our problem. Not only rich countries have good volleyball team, Turkiye has lots of economic problems and we don’t have social securities like in EU, but the public is interested in volleyball luckily and there are investments. If your public is not interested in volleyball, it is also not our problem. You cannot blame that on us too lol

Exactly. The thing is that poor countries have dominated volleyball for quite long stretches of time in the past. Brazil isn't prosperous at all, albeit a very large country. But countries such as East Germany/DDR, Hungary, Bulgaria (won ECH in 1981), Cuba, Peru and Czechoslovakia were neither wealthy nor particularly large, yet they were powerhouses in the past. These were socialistic countries (excluding Peru) with highly limited resources in a comparison to the Western capitalistic one's, but the state or their government in charge put a great deal of priority into volleyball success and this made the difference as public funds were channeled into volleyball. Nowadays, when these countries are liberal democracies and market economies, the state won't intervene as much as in the past due to the privatisations. The former public institutions (oil, gas and banks etc) were sold out to private interests within the Eastern block, hence they are now dependent on that capitalistic enterprises or conglomerates similar to Eczacibasi and Vakifbank part with cash in their favour.
Moreover, although countries such as Romania and Turkey are poor in a parallell with Sweden or Switzerland, this is primarily in relation to the GDP and average living standard. But as the money is so disproportionately balanced between the tycoons/oligarchs and the masses, it still means that the richest in those countries are almost as wealthy as the ones in Netherlands or Sweden. Hence there is certainly no shortage of super rich fellows (dollar billionaires) in say Romania who could, in case they desired, opt to finance a superteam in CL for men or women.

for anyone saying Eurovolley has been boring, you can switch to NORCECA tournament. Where USA manhandles every other opponent amd beats them mercilessly. They put in their Olympic line up against an undoubtedly amateur team of Costa Rica. They won the first set 25-3.
I don't really see the reasoning behind putting Larson in the match.

Bulgaria is trying to get Casanova... They want to be in that train too.

I really don't think so...
I don't think that if Arina Fedorovtseva acted like Karakurt she would be treated better...
I think the focus on why Karakurt is so targeted for her behaviors is not her "appearance" but the fact that, in the end, her "performances" don't justify them... Personally, when I see her acting like that, the first thing I think is "who the f##k does she think she is?"...
This is such a sick hypocrisy!🤦 If someone has right 'performance', does she get a free pass for that behavior? So your problem is not with ebrar's behavior, she is just not good enough in your eyes to be 'entitled' to behave that way?🙄
