Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2022/23

  • As a fan of USC Münster I am very happy now that one of Vilsbiurg and Suhl will defenitlty end behind USC Münster :-)

But Potsdam will train hard next week, so I hope for more points for USC that trained hard two weeks ago without match (Straubing out).

USC Münster is now better than ever before in this season. There are three middle blockers in good form, and Zoe Fleck as Libera is really good for the team!

They do not need to give all passes to Scholten because Schlegel and Kemmsies play very well now. That makes Scholten even better! I have a little hope to go to semi finals if they end in 5th or 6th place :-)

    Wishful thinking? ;)

  • Could Dresden now even loose the 5th place and become 6th in the end? Or is it not possible?

The ranking is by points, wins and then set ratio. So Potsdam-Münster 0:3 and Dresden-Stuttgart 0:3 would mean:

    Münster 29 10 38:40

Dresden 29 10 36:38 so that should put Dresden behind Münster and Dresden could end up 6th with a Wiesbaden win.

    Not too likely I guess

The hot mess continues until the last round of regular season :super:

  • Is this the first game both ruddins and alsmeier played well at attack at the same match?😂 They were alternating every match

  • I hope she could play many more years and retire in Stuttgart♥️ Stuttgart tolerates her condition very well and give her a lot of freedom and she in return play her heart out and bring Stuttgart to next level👏👏 very good collaboration from both sides

  • To make it more transparent: it seems now likely, that the following teams will comprise the second league pro next season:

Borken, Stralsund, Dingolfing, Straubing, Flacht, DSHS SnowTrex Köln, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, ESA Grimma, Freisen, ETV Hamburg and Allbau Essen(-Borbeck), additionally from the nearly defunct DVV there will be the education teams VCO Berlin and VCO Dresden. This would make up 13 (not finally confirmed of course).

With Erfurt attending also 2. pro instead of 1. league, this makes currently 14, which sounds like a resonable size and makes unlikely the admittance of BBSC Berlin for example.

  • "The VBL has already taken measures to adapt the game operations of the 1st Bundesliga women to the changed framework conditions in the coming season. The primary goal is to keep the number of games for the remaining teams constant despite the lower squadron strength."

I guess the most likely option would be to play an intermedate round with the top 8 teams before heading into the Playoffs. Just as it is done in the male league...

In men's league it means more matches but not necessarily more quality

I think Erfurt is a big loss, but at least they don't let it come as far as Straubing and have to quit during the season. I hope they'll find a way to come back to 1st league in the next years.

On other news, Aleksandersen won't travel to Dresden to Stuttgart's last regular season match, but he hopes to be back on bench for the playoffs. Right now he is feeling better, but at this stage of his disease, there are no guarantees for anything :(

The bottom two teams would then have only 18 matches and end the season very early. OTOH if the intermediate round is played with 2 groups of 5, then you'd need 18+10 match days before the playoffs (26 games per team and two rest days). That would be a very tight schedule but would be doable as next season is about a week longer ( as per the FIVB calendar: https://rofv.org/uploads/files…ll-calendar-2021-2024.pdf ), maybe the finals would need to be best of 3 then.
