Italy - Serie A1 2022/23

  • Italian volleyball community being toxic--->Egonu deciding to leave Italy and making it clear she won't play for NT---->Without Egonu, who is the main reason Italy winning things, Italy being a mediocre team

It would took too much time to contradict/ or simply factcheck what you said. so Yeah sure whatever helps you sleep at night.

There are better way for discussion but the moment you generalize from one accident of Novara to the whole Italian volleyball community and then the whole Italian culture makes the discussion pointless. No need for further discussion.

  • And still Egonu doesn’t want to stay in Vakfibank ann Turkish league…

Oh dear, I am not generalising Novara's situation to the Italian culture, that's based on my vast experience of not just Italians but the whole Mediterranean culture that unfortunately in most of these countries, people speak without thinking twice. Just because 5-10% of them don't do that, does not change this fact. To be honest, that's not an insult or a bad thing either. In most social meetings, I love how bald and careless these cultures are when they talk, it is honest, true and not political. However, this becomes a problem if we are talking of company managers or important figures in a community.

Anyway, it seems like people will pick pieces of what I wrote in pages just to defend an ugly or clearly wrong behaviour. This shows the double morality of some users here. No need for further discussion for me either until you guys grow up to look at things a bit objectively.

  • Novara has been a shit show and everyone is looking for a scapegoat to blame, of course a notorious player like Ebrar is an easy target for everyone 🤦 Novara's manager is blaming her instead of questioning their terrible transfer policy which was built to fail. And Danesi is having a subpar season and I don't know how in the hell she accuses the opposite of the team for her bad performance (I've seen middles blaming their setter or even the receivers but how an opposite is the one to blame for a middle's bad performance?:what:) also I hate it when people say 'i don't want to say something negative', and then talk shit about that person:hit:this interview has such a passive aggressive tone from Danesi🙄

By the way, what a coincidence that no journalist has approached to Ebrar and ask what SHE thinks about her team's disappointing performance so far. I wonder what she thinks about terrible performances of Novara's setters, middles and outsides (except Carcases).

Ebrar is not having her best season but she is not playing like for example how Smarzek did in Novara 2 seasons ago. She is still the best scorer and best server of the league. Moreover, as we see in Vakıfbank, even a player like Egonu does not play at her best when her team is badly built and her setter is underperforming.

All in all, although I don't think Russian league is the best choice for Ebrar, I'm very happy that she is leaving such a toxic club environment like Novara. Such unprofessional finger pointing won't help Ebrar's performance, instead this will demotivate her more.

  • How did we end up into another Italy vs Turkey discussion? :aww:

Ebrar is the last problem of AGIL. She's far from being perfect, she has up and downs. And It's okay as long as she tries to do her best, showing good effort.

I don't know how Danesi's words sound translated, but - in italian - she sounded quite diplomatic to me. She picked the right answer for helself, not taking anyone's side, club or teammate.

The point here is the fact she's agreed to another club in the middle of the season. Many other players were in the same position and were as criticized as she is right now. Clubs and supporters may take it as a lack of respect. Nothing else.

I have no problem at all. I think she's a professional player and will do her best for her current team.

  • Guys I want to ask you something. I see that a lot of people write that Ebrar is making a bad season or that she does not play good in the important matches and thing like this. From when did you concluded that ? As we can see in the stats if we exclude the last time with earthquake she plays really good in all the important matches!!! OK she is not Haak and she has a few bad times which is normal but if you think her level wich she saw to us until now I think that she is great and also she is the best opposite right now after the top 4.

  • The point here is the fact she's agreed to another club in the middle of the season. Many other players were in the same position and were as criticized as she is right now. Clubs and supporters may take it as a lack of respect. Nothing else.

Almost every player ever agreed to change clubs multiple times before the end of the season, this is how volleyball works with short one/two-year contracts and no transfer fees like in football, I hate this fans' narrative that pro players don't care about winning once they decided to change their clubs during a season. There are probably rare examples of players not giving a f... after deal secured, but every player switching clubs gets criticized if she/he doesn't play her best, but many times it's just a correlation, not cause-effect relation. For example, sometimes national tragedies happen, unfortunately, that may impact player's well-being...

This is actually quite funny discussion considering comparison of Ebrar's stats season to season

    20224,960,4339%23%

So yeah, she plays worse, but it's not like she fell of a cliff with her level. It's kind of obvious Novara has no good atmosphere as a team and I can imagine Ebrar being an outcast (no offense here), but it's still a dick move to point her out level-wise, even ignoring what may emotionally affect her. I wouldn't go into cultural stuff tho.

She's not playing her 100%, but she still scales pretty well in comparison to every opposite but Haak (considering volume in attack, serve and block level etc).

  • Nwakalor's numbers are quite impressive to me...

The girl, behind only Zago (33 years old from Pinerolo, the penultimate team in the standings) is the worst in all attack statistics...

With an O like her in the field, being ninth in the standings is almost a miracle...

Yes. Do we know what really happened to her?? She was far away from her level this season.

    Some injury maybe????

    Some injury maybe????

Good question... Physically she's fine, nothing relevant... The most accredited hypothesis is that she suffered a bad burnout after the season with the national team and is struggling a lot to get out of it...

She has always had difficulty managing the topical moments of matches, but now it is clear that she panics at the first mistake and is no longer able to think rationally... bad story...

I think her situation could be comparable to Ofelia Malinov's... but while Lia, changing team and environment, is coming out of the black hole she seemed to end up in, Nwakaolr is still in the tunnel...

  • I thought Nwakalor would be the next Egonu. Her jump is insane for her height. she debuted with Fedor and I thought they'll be the next rivals.

In Italy no one has ever thought of it and I don't see how anyone could have thought it... She has an incredible jump (she is 176cm tall and touches of 330cm), but she lacks technique and above all mentality... She is (and will be) a player for mid-table teams ...

  • I think she is well on her road to recovery and version 2.0.

She has been looking more and more aggressive in the past few matches. I have the same kind of excitement as I used to, when I see her gear up for a kill! Pretty decent recovery - about a year ish for her to come back to good form and she’s not even at her peak yet! *rubs hands in glee*

  • For example, Conegliano's number of sets in the standings is 57+15=72 as of 03/03/23.

    https://www.legavolleyfemminile.it/classifica/

Team stats are 71. This is not a tally delay, it is not.

Statistiche squadre>SQUADRA_Giomata per Giomata > Imoco Volley Conegliano

4RITORNO IS A FULL SET FIGHTING AND WRONG. PUNTI also has an abnormal value of 174, which is impossible from the total score.

There are also some inconsistencies in the personal statistics.

You can talk about silly comparative cultural theories in pubs, but I want you to value the accuracy of the data.
