  • Visited Sohu Sports to get some updates -- https://sports.sohu.com/

    - just realized than Zhang Changning's father already passed away on Feb. 5th at 66, still relatively young, what a big loss for the family (I was shocked indeed; what a happy and very close family they were... RIP 🙏🏿)

    - Zhang Changning has followed his husband to Urumqi, who joined the club there -- surely she will miss these two main events OQT & AG in 2023, it's said she's still under recuperation condition

    - Zhu Ting already returned to China ever since the Italian season was over, but is still in stealth mode, no news

    - NT has been in Beilun training camp after VNL -- Gao Yi, Zhong Hui and Wu Mengjie also joined there after Universiade games

    - the Second team also has training in Qinhuangdao for the Asian championship, Xu Xiaoting joined the camp after Universiade games (meaning Ding Xia in the First team)

  • THE SECOND TEAM FOR THE ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

After winning the championship at the Chengdu Universiade Games, the Second team of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team split into three teams and headed to their new destinations.

Zhuang Yushan rushed to the U21 Women's Volleyball World Championships, while Gao Yi, Wu Mengjie and Zhong Hui returned to the First team. The main players in the Universiade lineup are preparing for the Asian Championship in Thailand. Due to some players having new tasks, several new players have made up the lineup, including veteran players from the national team who are the main attackers.

The head coach of China's Second team, Zhao Yong, has reorganized a brand new 14 rosters for the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship. The players are as below:

OH: Wang Yizhu (Tianjin), Duan Fang (Liaoning), and Miao Yiwen (Sichuan)

MB: Wang Wenhan (Shandong), Liu Yu (Zhejiang), Cao Tingting (Shandong), Zhang Shiqi (Tianjin)

OP: Zhou Yetong (Jiangsu), Duan Mengke (Henan)

S: Xu Xiaoting (Shanghai), Yu Jiarui (Guangdong), Xie Shengyu (Shandong)

    L: Xu Jia-nan (Liaoning), Wu Xin-yu (Shandong)

“There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.”

  • For the OH selection... Miao Yiwen is OK, but when Wang Yizhu played in last year's VNL, she literally froze :aww:

If she's still like that, we're in trouble...because Duan Fang is past her prime and not the player she used to be. Better to have Wu Mengjie and/or Zhong Hui here. In the first team , they probably won't be playing anyway ..coach CaiBin prefers his favourite Wang Yunlu :white:

For MB... I think Cao Tingting is not the right pick... too clumsy and inconsistent. As for Zhang Shiqi, Coach Zhao knows about her... she was in the Starting lineup that lost to Germany 11-25 in the first set of the first match (Universiade)... after replacing her by Wang Wenhan...we didn't lose another set in the entire tournament. Yet, what did Zhao learn?

  • As a matter of record... the roster is out, yesterday I checked the official website, they had not put it out.

Well, don't expect too high for the team in the Asian Championship, in addition to the current line-up limitation, this team will also face JP A team (I read it at JP thread that Japan will send its First team to the Asian Championship and OQT while dispatch its Second team to 19th Hangzhou Asian Games, just like what they did in the 18th Jakarta Asian Games). Then I guess the host Thailand will also deploy its First team in this event. Therefore, the challenge for the Chinese squad will be steep! What to say, all the CN heavy ammo are allocated for the First team (I also wish that Wu & Zhong were included in the Second team to Thailand) 😛 so for the Asian Championship, just watch and enjoy... they should be in the podium, whatever color... if they play in the final, it's cool but I won't put too high the expectation.

I watched Wang Wenhan in Chengdu games, she's good, has prospect. Do not know about Cao Tingting and Zhang Shiqi, these players weren't fielded when I watched the Chengdu games in the later stage.

  • CHINESE NT PREPARATION

The Chinese NT returned to Beilun Sports Training Base in Ningbo, Zhejiang, in mid-July to continue training. The team is racing against time to polish their skills, while also carefully reviewing every game of the VNL.

There are currently 16 players participating in the training camp in Beilun, Ningbo. In addition to Gao Yi, Zhong Hui, and Wu Mengjie who returned from the Chengdu Universiade with honor, veteran Ding Xia and young player Chen Xiyue also appeared on the training ground.

As the competition is approaching, the training of the team remains high-intensity as always. Between each training subject, the rest time for the players is very short. The head coach Cai Bin did not sit down to rest during such a short interval, but stood on the sidelines and urged the players to continue training. In the technical training class last weekend, the team not only started group confrontation, but also continued to strengthen their serve receiving skills by using technological means such as serving machines. Several young accompanying coaches also played and assisted their team members in practicing block coordination.

In the small conference room of the Beilun base, the players and coaches sat together, re-watched the video of the VNL, and launched a warm and serious study and discussion. Cai Bin introduced that during the period after returning from the VNL, and the intensity and amount of physical and technical training for team members have been continuously improving. He also requested each team member to make good use of their training time and spare time to summarize the games of the VNL. The coaching team and team members will analyze problems and identify deficiencies by reviewing replay videos.

On September 16, the Paris Olympic Qualifying Tournament will start in Ningbo Beilun. After the OQT, the team will immediately move to the Hangzhou Asian Games. The two competitions are almost seamless, which is also a challenge for the team.

Cai Bin said that because the main opponents in the OQT are European and American teams, and in the Asian Games will face the challenges of the Asian opponents, the styles of the main opponents of the two competitions are different. Therefore, the team will also make different preparations in the next training according to the different styles of different opponents. Cai Bin said that according to the preparation plan, the team is currently in the middle of preparations for these two competitions. The players are overcoming fatigue and working hard to improve their physical and technical capabilities, so the recent training is very important. Cai Bin said that in preparing for the OQT and the Asian Games, the team will have different targeted preparations in terms of formation and tactics. I will do my homework according to different opponents. (Ningbo Beilun, August 13th - 中工网 Zhong Gong Network)

  • have you heard anything about our god and savior zhu ting

Blacked out, no news! Now based on the surmises from the few CN VB writers I think most likely ZT won't participate in the OQT and AG. No one mentions that she'll take part in this Q3 events.

I have sadly, it's all over weibo.

She was at Yao Di's birthday party. It's obvious our head coach Mr. Clown Bin does not want them. Just gotta hope they will be back for 2024 I guess.

I think it’s the other way round… I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t trust the coaching team and CVA to honor her wishes on the training load once she signs up to be a part of the team… we all know how they love overtraining their athletes… she’s already won it all anyway, they need her more than the other way round, I’m glad she’s prioritizing her health

On a daily basis we get dozens of YT uploads by delusional netizens suggesting ZT is back, and we have a clown who thinks that ZT will walk into his training camp soon... :white:

Wake up ! we do have a strong team if the right players are selected.. with ZT great, but without we still have a good chance. The last thing we need now is a hallucinating 🤡

  • Even they said Zhu Ting and Yao Di are the couple... Are you kidding me?

PS: The last Chinese volleyballer that announced she loves a girl was Sun Wen-jing, the former setter of Shandong VC.
