China NT 2023

    CB cannot boast that he is a great or at least a good coach. True, the current NT has lesser quality players. Those retired players or not participating former NT players were good and/ or really good. The present MBs cannot match beat Yan Ni. OH, only LYY is the good one. Setter is kinda not stable. OP, GXY is pretty good but she is being overused. I do not expect this NT roster to get on the podium.

    I wonder if CB ever watches and analyzes the opponent players strength and weakness. Remember seeing clips of JLP at home / hotel studying the opponents. She took notes during matches. I don’t see CB taking notes on the court side. Do his assistants take notes and does he talk with his assistants for their opinions? Is there any of his assistant had been JLP assistant?

    Whenever they start the set with WYL, I just know they are going to be in trouble. (That’s like 99% of the time) I did enjoy watching WMJ in the game against Canada. Lots of energy despite the loss. Mind you, most of them are probably tired and fatigued b/c they’ve played in every single set of every single game. Didn’t see that national team spirit tonight. They just could not close it out.


    ZH coming in for serves? I’m not seeing anything special or aggressive with her skills. Who was the previous specialized server?? Did we have one?


    I hope they bounce back from the prev 2 losses. I just wish CB would use more of his bench. Can’t expect them to improve if you don’t let them play.

    This result match against Dominican Republic is not expected especially at the score box. The point differences is like heaven and earth. LYY is not 100% since the start of the tournament- her right hand is bandage already. GXY is exhausted so is LYY. YXY and WYY need to improve their skills. DLY’s setting is often not high enough and organization of the ball is not good. The next match against Serbia, let the bench players play to get high level competitive experience and assess these players whether they can continue or be dropped from the NT roster.

    OH: Zhu Ting, Li Yingying, Wu Mengjie, Zhuang Yushan

    Wang Yunlu has to go, like, yesterday. She is a novelist as a hobby and was uploading her novels two hours before the match against DOM started. You can't see how LYY is injured from filling in the holes you've been digging for the last two years? I don't understand how she could even smile or look LYY in the face tbh. Zhong Hui is just bad, sorry. She's bad at outside and is bad as a server.


    MB: Yuan Xinyue, Wang Yuanyuan, Gao Yi, (Yang Hanyu)
    Well, these four are the best in the country, so that is one thing, possibly the only thing, that Cai Bin has gotten correct.


    S: Yao Di, Xu Xiaoting
    Apparently, it didn't occur to Cai Bin that he should get LYY, YXY, and WYY's clubmate setter, Yao Di, who also has an excellent connection with Gong Xiangyu.

    Second setter I prefer Xu Xiaoting. Ding Xia has aged out with too many injuries and Diao Linyu is not the right fit for this team.


    L: Wang Mengjie, (Wang Simin)

    Two-libero strategy is so dumb. that's all i have to say. Get both liberos who can receive and actually give WMJ some competition.

    It is not a good idea to just drop the match tomorrow. I think Serbia would field in their reserves, since they already got the ticket to Paris. Both teams got nothing to loose. it is an opportunity to see how GY, WuMJ, WH and NFF perform and have some experience. BTW, they (CNT) over trained as usual; hopefully it is an eye opener to the officials and coaches that too much is not a good thing. Everything is to be in moderation.

    When I heard from one of the above posts, that Lai Yawen had confronted CB after yesterday’s match, I was hopeful he’ll be removed mid tournament.... and take WYL with him... and then I still see them today and WYL starting again against DOM :white:


    I really don’t want to see them in the Asian games... they make me sick. 🤢🤮


    Also, I really don’t care about the OQT now... all I want is for LYY to recover fully and be happier playing under a new coach.

    Naw he didn't get anything correct. The players are already there. Li Yingying, Gong, Yuan, and co were all proteges of Lang Ping. All he had to do was find new players and he failed miserably at that.


    The players he chose, Wang Weiyi, Wang Yunlu, and Diao, are arguably the worst of their positions. Wang Weiyi, enough said. Wang Yunlu just lacks the offensive skills to be starter. She should come in as a serving sub. Diao's loose cannon style hurts the team more than it helps. She lacks stability like Yao Di, even though I don't find Yao Di anything outstanding.


    His greatest failure was not finding or developing any new players. All the newbies to the team got the scrub treatment from him, getting subbed in for a serve or double sub, and rot on the bench. Even the worst of the worst newcomer, Qian Jingwen, got a lot of playing time. In fact I think she had way more minutes than all of the new players under Cai Bin combined in these two years. Cai Bin literally did nothing for the team in two years. Now I understand why Jiangsu only managed to win one single league title despite having a lot of talents. He simply sucks at coaching. Man should be banned from coaching.

    I would also really like to ask the team why the players who have excelled at their positions (Li Yingying, Wang Mengjie) are feeling the most responsible, while everyone else is being a scaredy cat and avoiding blame.

    CB should take the blame. He should have said the buck stops here with me. There should be a reorganization of the Chinese volleyball federation - complacency and being comfortable; doing nothing, no upgrading of training, etc.
