2023 Women's Volleyball Nations League

  • To be fair USA women's got snubbed because of location. Shreveport Bossier CIty Lousiana is the last place I think of when it comes to volleyball USA. Even the men's teams got better locations.

NCAA VB or just college sports in general is a different story. These are die hard fans with some type of connection to the school so of course they pack in big crowds.

Well, yea. College sports is a big thing in the USA. Even then I thought USAV would have atleast a little better marketing for their national team. Even if they can't match NCAA level crowd.

  • How was the crowd then? was it packed? is volleyball a major sport in Korea?

Idk how popular the sport itself is, but a lot of fans idolize their favorite players.

Example Kim Heejin here at the airport literally surrounded by fans uncomfortably in my opinion. All those cameras and people within touching distance, where was security?! If you are a true fan of a player, you know not to invade personal space and have better respect for them.

I see. My girlfriend always wanted to travel to Korea so I was thinking it might be great to go there and watch VNL next year but if it's going to be super packed I guess it's not a good idea after all

The best marketing USAV could think of after winning Gold in Tokyo was to create shirts...

I guess it depends on what matches you were planning to watch. The non-Korea games will likely be less crowded so it might still be worth the experience if those matches were your interests.

  • No Women's VNL in my country! Fvck the thirsty Men's volleyball fans :wall:

Are you from Philippines? I was hoping too there will be women's, i want to see the smiling Thais personally. I am visiting My family in June and We are just few hours away from Pasay. Oh well, Hopefully the Thais will make it to Paris. Planning to watch the Olympics if I can get someone to tag along.

  • Poland and Italy are quiet. Sneaky bastards saving money for Olympics qualifiers.

Poland will host VNL men’s finals (Gdansk) and applied for men’s and women’s OQ. FIVB gave direct offer to Gdansk last summer but with OQ case is different, there are more countries interested but Poland wants to have these 3 mentioned competitions and will not give up.

Poland is kinda boring, they hosted OQ for Tokyo

  • To be fair, we are the poorest one from top6  Joking aside where you read that, our federation didn't said or write anything.

i sort of assumed that FIVB would ask the first seeds if they were interested, then the second, etc.

  • Goodluck with that! I heard Japan is wanting to host it, but idk if it's for the women's or men's

Edit: Damn, looks like they're willing to use all their money and host both. link

Serbia and Japan will co-host. All 32 teams, Japan included, will travel to Serbia first and play 2 rounds than half of them will travel to Japan. All semi final matches will be played in Japan, matches for gold and bronze in Serbia. ^^
