Serbian Women's NT 2023

  • Italy won both friendlies last year as well, with even bigger difference in points in every set (as far as I remeber there was even 25-13)

It doesn’t mean much, it’s mostly to try different players and to see how different rotations work.

Italy probably wanted to try Antropova as OH and we wanted to try Drca and Maja with different OHs, maybe to see to what extent Uzelac/Lozo can work, if Kurtagic is ready for more serious competition, etc..

I don’t believe it was that competative, especially because it was closed to public so it was more like training session. If it was to be broadcasted then sure, it would’ve been more competative

True but to be honest Italy went downhill after the friendlies and VNL win. It never found its pre- WCH rythm during the competition.

  • You are known to overreact, relax bro  Drca and Maja can’t take friendly games serious at age of 35 and 39

It’s all cool, there’s a reason from both sides why matches aren’t open to public

yea and when you all called me dramatic for being worried we wouldn’t make VNL final 8 lol . Then it happened. I think some of y’all might just be too over confident. Same with how you told me our u19 team would be good and they didn’t make it out of pool play 😭

  • There is such a stir that you can get the impression that they were playing the ECH final and not a friendly match:lol:

It has nothing to do with self-confidence, but with reasonable thinking and self-control. Is it possible for Serbia to fail (Oh Yes), is 5 lost sets in a friendly match an indicator for that (Oh No).

U19 would’ve been actually really good if we had Baić there, and we all expected to see her with the team, that’s why we were confident. We played with useless setter and still took every game we lost to 5 sets.. With Baić and how good setter she is, we would have won those games imo.. we just needed average setter, nothing more, not even good one  but we couldn’t get that.

VNL loss against DR was something nobody could’ve predicted, let’s not say it like there was high chance that we would lose to DR while we played with Boskovic, or that there was reason to worry about DR game before it went downhill for a simple fact that Maja chose to play Boskoball for 3 days in a row :sos:

But hopefully Guidetti saw where mistakes were made and how to manage this team better for next tournament.
It’s easy to be pessimistic just to say “i knew it” after in order not to be disappointed if worst happens.. but let’s not be dramatic about it  let’s believe in a team and hope they deliever like they did last year when nobody believed we can dominate anymore after Brankica was not dominant 2nd scorer like before

I believed in them during the whole 2022 season. I knew they were very good and I loved the direction we were headed in and how we did and their energy on court. I do not like how we have looked at all this year excerpt for set 1 vs China. There are plenty of red flags right now. I sincerely hope we get the train back on the tracks for euros. I still think we can win Paris but there is plenty of work to be done like who our second middle blocker will be and who should start at setter

  • It's a pity that there are no statistics because I would like to see how individual players fared:roll:

  • where did you get these numbers? any other details?

  • I heard all 4 oh were combined, each set played with different duo, so probably they have 5 points each

bad stats, considering that the match took longer than normal matches, probably their attack rates are too low.

I think all serbian OHs besides Uzelac are mediocre, ı wonder why they don't full concentrated on Uzelac for Paris. Uzelac should play more

they are mediocre when maja is setting. They can be quite good with Drca. The middles are better with maja thi

I agree also Maja is bad and one of the reason, I have been saying this for 2 years. They migth be not good but okayish with Drca.

maja is far from “bad” lol. Inconsistent these days maybe but

As Madden54 said, Maja has really bad connection with OHs, and it’s been like that for years. She only had good connection with Mihajlović in recent years, but both on NT and club level she was always more OPP/MB oriented, it’s where her game shines.

All our OHs had solid attacking game last season, partially because Drča was the main setter.

But I agree that we should focus on Uzelac and younger OHs amongst which there are many talented ones who can be at top clubs in a few years (Uzelac, Tica and Ivanović just to name a few most promising ones). Maybe it’s too much to expect from someone with so little experience to be ready to take such huge step to be 2nd best scorer of the team on such important tournament, but after Paris we should defenitely focus on these 3 to be pillars for NT in the future
