Transfer Rumors & Discussion (2023/2024)

  • Who else aside from those 3? Mostly other prime and A players were all retired at age of 30 or 32y/o start deteriorating. Mb and setter not to degrade their position but less heavy.

    • All top liberos like castillo, de Gennaro etc
    • Almost all top setters
    • Middles generally reach their peak at early ages indeed since it is the most physically demanding position. Even then, there are many middles who keep high level after 30s (gioli got all her MVP awards after 30s)
    • Most of the top opps right now are from younger generations so we don't know what shape bosko, Egonu, Haak, Vargas, Ebrar will have at their 30s. But previous top opp like Neslihan, Goncharova, Gamova, Agüero etc were still rocking at the age of 30
    • Same for outsides, gözde could have played 5 more years with her shape once she got retired. Piccinini, tom Logan, del core, Jacqueline, Natalia, KYK all kept still top shape at the age of 30s

    I can keep counting:roll:

just because there are prominent players who stay on top past 30 doesn't negate the fact that volleyball players tend to retire right after 30. majority of them do. the operative word is majority. not the top players you know.

That's not true. Except some Asian players and German ones, most players retire 35+, although there might be some players who retire at the age of 30, it is still considered surprising mostly because this is not what majority of players do. For example, most of the players who were born at 1994 are still actively playing, there are only very few retired players

You did not answer the question who else is still playing in both club and National team on same level by age of 30 or 32? Some or most of them are playing for clubs. Not retired but the level of playing is not there anymore. Those you mentioned are mostly playing im club and because they are too tired or not on their prime anymore. You get that?

No most of them are playing in their NT. Maja at the age of 40 plays in both club and NT. What are you talking about? Even de Gennaro will most likely play in NT at the age of 37 if she gets the invite. Go check Olympic rosters this summer and you will see many 30+ players!😉

Your original post was referring to retirement from volleyball, not retirement from NT. You are just changing it now that you realize you are wrong

STARTs at age 30+ players are Retiring from NT or even volleyball and prefers to play club. That's my post. Obviously you only focus on the word Retirement but not understanding it. Players usually prefers to stay away from NT or even playing volleyball due to Age, not on their prime or by choice. Obviously those you mentioned are mostly still playing in club but not for NT, still few compared to those who actually retired from volleyball after 30/32y/o i can give you even a thread of those names lol

Yes in that thread there's only a bunch of players who were 30 or younger, majority of players retires from volleyball 35 or older.

  • Few years ago I would have agreed but the last generation really has redefined the age limit for playing pro-volleybal.

I honestly noticed ambition is more important than age as well as how much spotlight to player has gotten since early on in their career, the players that start playing high level at a very young age do tend to peak in their 20s, and lose a lot of quality post 30s. Especially the players that have this title of being the very best end up having issues post 30s imo, it must be hard keeping up pushing yourself to the fullest in your 20s and even as a teenager. And maybe as well to stay motivated when you already basically did everything you could. Players that still have unfinished dreams really will surprise you with how in form and fit they can get regardless of age.

  • Same question! Does anyone have any info on a possible return to fb for the rest of the season or will she be joining another club?

The transfer window in Turkiye will end on January 31. Her season in China will end after February 3, So even if she return Fenerbahçe for the rest of the season she can't play in Turkish League if she does not sign in next 36 hours.
