2023/2024 Transfer News (Female)

  • Cangrejeras de Santurce announced Nancy Carrillo.

    As opp or as middle?

  • Opposite? I thought that she is OH. Can she attack from the position 2 and 1?

Yes she can play in both positions, in which she did last year as OH and OPP.

Furthermore she was one of the most consistent player in NCAA history. I had a list of mine for the most promising players and Skylar was one of them.

When I compared her performance of 2022-2023 vs 2023-2024, I could hardly believe my eyes. It is like copy paste with exceptional outcome, except hitting performance and kill efficiency, which declined a bit in 2023-2024, however with a good coaching, she can catch up and has a room to go further.

    Overall, great transfer for UYBA.

I wished, Türkiye would have good contacts at college league in USA, to observe and select the most talented ones for Turkish teams

Marta Levinska is also a good choice for PTT as OPP however she also can play in both positions as OH and OPP.

Below is the table for Skylar Fields 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 from Final NCAA tables

  • Middle. They have Andrea Rangel and Yeliz Askan (I guess the turkish girl will play as OH).

She is originally a middle of course but in last couple of years she played as Opp. That's why I was confused with her transfer, considering they already have 2 foreign opps

  • Levinska can not play as an OH

So far this is their line up:

    Lloyd - Rangel

    Askan -Havelkova

    Ortiz - Carrillo

    Seilhamer

I don't who is gonna be their second OH. Last season they had Kubik and Mancuso. In case one of their reserved player will miss the season while playing abroad, they have the right to sign an extra foreign player, which is the case considering Valentin will play PVF with Omaha Supernovas.

Edit: totally forgot they signed Havelkova. If they can receive, they will demolish all the opponents.

wow - Nancy back to middle blocker position. It will be nice to see her again playing her attacks in front of the setter. Though I wonder if we’ll see her doing the typical slides plays for such position, which up until the last cuban Olympic generation (2008) , such play wasn’t part of their attack system . Actually, the last Cuban middle blocker I saw making that type of play, was Regla Torres, scoring their last point that led them to their third Olympic medal gold in a row.

I haven't watched her for a while but I'm curious if she still does jumpserves. She was the best jump server of last decade :obey:
