Japan Women's NT 2023

  • I forgot to include Miyu had a tv feature for Energy Iinkai last Saturday (29th) with special guest Mayu Yokota as one of the people reacting to the features.

    TBS will have a replay of it on the 3rd after Ran's special feature which will probably be a replay too

    Phoenix posted a link to stream Japanese channels somewhere in this thread so you guys can use that if you want or search for open links on twitter

  • This is the first time for Manabe where a setter isn't one of the main stars of the team. In the men's team, Sekita doesn't seem to be a star either but at least he knows his stuff.

    London - Takeshita and Rio - Miyashita both with huge reputations during their time in the NT. Seki doesn't have Takeshita's ability nor Miyashita's appeal. I don't know if she's ever won anything in her career so far.

  • Well this is also the first time he tried to make inoue happen but she's so bad that people don't even know that she's an outside hitter :whistle:so just drop her

  • Miku Akimoto with 33 points from 30 attacks and 3 blocks vs Serbia :super:

    I'll add that the second and third leading scorers for Japan were those two girls we never heard of from that high school, Riseisha, we never heard of:

    Maya Ino 176cm OH :: 17 points (15 attack, 2 Aces)

    Ichiyo Ito 179cm MB :: 12 points (5 attack, 7 blocks:!:)

    Is Miku Akimoto anticipated to he Japan's next 'ace'?

  • Is Miku Akimoto anticipated to he Japan's next 'ace'?

    well, I hate to put it that way :) but ... probably. She's going to be a player, tall and gifted

    I appreciate your use of mini-scare quotes on 'ace'. I double dip with "ace" :drink:

  • Their little trip to Okinawa is training camp for their intersquad match as well as a Mizuno sponsored fan event to train with athletes. Their Intersquad is only 2 days I think? or did I miss something?

    Meguro and Tanaka who are currently in camp will be participating in Asian Championships so they won't do OQT. Ironically Watanabe is always invited to intersquad matches but never the main events.

    It's sad that Kojima isn't even being considered here. The fact that she went from vnl crowd favorite / potential main libero to zero participation

    Not really a favorite but same case with Yokota (it took me so long to remember her name:wall:). We all thought she was gonna be the next Okumura.

    Nothing is ever as it seems unless you're married to Nishida or is Ishikawa's beloved sister.

    Yokota > Irisawa by a mile what a tragic decision

  • Red and White match has been canceled

    I wonder if it's because she is too talkative :)

    She was for sure a crowd/fan favorite. When you see Euros or Americans giving her props in this forum you know she has reached a peak
